Many of you have asked for the wilderness to be updated only in a limited amount of worlds. This is likely to increase the activity in the Wilderness in these worlds while allowing players to do their clues as they have always done. I think 10 worlds sounds about right and we'll happily poll this as a seperate question.
I don't like the idea of adding this update to only a few worlds. Sure, it makes them more active I think this will add more problems than it solves.
1. People can go to the revamped worlds, get their resources, then hop back to a normal world and remain unscathed.
2. Lots of players will be really confused about how to get to the revamped wilderness if they didn't read the forums and polls (which is actually a large amount of the playerbase)
3. Doesn't fit in with the lore. Why would some worlds have a new wilderness and some retain the old one?
Because of these things, I think a much nice alternative would be to simply
remove a few worlds
. Currently, very few worlds have a population that is over 200. Only the trading worlds and other themed worlds have a lot of players. Removing worlds will make the game more social overall, as well as make the wilderness more active because the players aren't as spread out as they used to be. This will Jagex some money because less servers will be running. Perhaps those worlds can come back in the future as F2P? I'd like it to get to a point where there are at least 500 players in each world. Not sure how many we would have to remove but I'm sure you guys can think of something.
Let's poll this idea, Jagex. Until then, my vote is "no" for adding the wilderness revamp to only a select few worlds.
