Jagex.. what the hell are you doing? They're a reason people are flooding to "Old School" Runescape. Its because they hate the updates you've let ruin the game. Quit trying to fix things that are not broken.

Old School RS should be left the way it is. The people love it for what they grew up with. Not this constantly Updated throw together rubbish. LEAVE IT ALONE.

Without a doubt in my mind Voting: NO NO NO NO NO.

It's very apparent you are the minority who wants the game to stay the way it was in 2007, otherwise the majority wouldn't be voting yes to new content. Keep those comments to yourself because they are a lie.

With that said, I don't know if I want Artisan in the game. I'd love to see even more 'Artisan revisited' threads in the future, I like to see what Jagex can come up with as well even if it won't pass.

What are you talking about? Aye Birdz is 100% right. Last year when they did the vote for old school runescape, it was not a vote for "pre-eoc", it was a vote for the game in the 2007 version. No where did anything ever say pre-eoc vote. Old school runescape was voted in as the 2007 version. I can't explain it in any other way. This skill like many other attempted updates is just a step in the wrong direction.

I'm happy with the skills we have now. I dislike this idea and I think its totally unnecessary. Stop trying to ram random stuff like this in the game. I think you need to calm down.

I will be voting no.

Yeah.. we have had way too many polls lately.

I would like it if polling became more rare and all the ideas of that poll must be finished and working before the next poll. I'm all for dev blogs in between polls to grab attention and ideas, but there needs to be a lot less ideas polled.

Then they still focus way too much on new content instead of ensuring the game works well. I would love it so much if for an entire year they just spent their time fixing any areas of the game that could work better. I'm not talking about changing or adding new content, but rather if something isn't working very well currently or has known concerns by players then it should be fixed in a way that isn't game changing either, but can address the issues.

I did come up with an idea for Firemaking though as I do believe this is dead content. There isn't a huge reason to level up firemaking or even burn fire to cook unless you are questing and are low on food or within the wilderness, but on Page 7 of this thread I posted an idea to produce better logs w/ new Tinderboxes that could allow for a lower burn rate on your logs. You would need HIGH firemaking levels for it to be worthwhile and to burn at least Yew Logs up to Redwood Logs. I wouldn't mind seeing this idea if Artisan fails and it can be modified into the Firemaking skill w/ Crafting to make the new tinderboxes.

My other comments were on the previous page but I've returned with some ideas:
The points system:
Some of the more valuable or complex craft patterns could be unlocked via points. Passive temporary skill bonuses is another possibility. Another idea is temporary effects (or even temporary access to a resouce location) that helps with the assigned tasks in some way.

Enchanted gloves:
Made with leather gloves and rune dust (see runecrafting variant). Each would have 28 charges, but maybe allow an unlock via the point system that allows one repair per glove, adding an additional 28 charges before depletion. There could even be enhanced versions of these requiring more rune dust and maybe even perfect leather gloves created by using the crafting variant. Here are a few examples:
-- Runecrafting variant: When crafting runes, there is a chance you will get some rune dust. This will be used to make enchanted gloves & boots - because of this, I believe this should be unlocked via the point system somehow (ex: Turning in X amount of points unlocks the ability to make enchanted gloves and gives you enough rune dust to make a single pair. After that you have to earn your own or buy from another players.)
-- Crafting variant: When crafting with hides of any type, there is a chance that you will notice imperfections in the leather. you can then use a second piece of leather to patch the imperfections, which would give slightly more xp than just making something new with that piece of leather and the perfect item would alch for slightly more than the regular version of that item to make up for the extra hide used.
-- Herblore variant: When cleaning herbs, there is a chance that you will notice that your unid herb still has roots, and therefore can be replanted like a seed. The herb would take less time than a seed to grow, but there is a decent chance that your plant will not take root and you will only get back the single herb.

-- Smithing variant: When mining ores, there is a chance that you will obtain stackable ore fragments, which when smithed using the gloves will use multiple ore fragmets and give a random bar that you have the ability to mine/smith.
-- Agility variant: Your grip will be better when using agility obstacles or shortcuts that require the use of your hands (hand holds, rope swings, etc) and you will not fail.

TTrail backpacks
: The main point of these is to free up bank space for clue hunters, while still maintaining the need to re-obtain the items again. You would only be able to store items in ONE of these backpacks at a time, and the item would then be one-use only. Only Uri emote items could be added to the backpack. The item stays there permanately until used for a Uri emote (must be wearing the backpack in the cape slot). After Uri gives you the next clue, the item used will no longer be part of your backpack and you will have to re-obtain it the next time you have that clue.
Backpack 1: Crafted with leather. Holds 3 emote items. Requires a total of 5 completed Treasure Trails.
Backpack 2: Crafted with perfect leather. Holds 6 emote items. Requires a total of 10 completed Treasure Trails.
--- I'm not going to list a bunch of different backpacks, but there are a TON of Uri emote items for various clues so this could be scaled to have various backpacks all the way to 99, with the level 99 backpack holding every emote item but still making them one-use only. We certainly have enough cloth materials (and it sounded like we're getting more with this skill) to make it happen -- Fine cloth comes to mind as one possible material, as well as dragon leathers and whatever new materials we might get.

I think another interesting route would be allowing us to modify quest rewards with our artisan levels to make the items more useful. I unfortunately do not have any specific examples but it is something that could be considered for future quest rewards.

This is crazy... how can you people want to keep changing this game? I thought when Old School came out the community would be MUCH more conservative in the update polls... Now over a year in and we are discussing a NEW SKILL? To OLD RUNESCAPE?! Unbelievable... my faith in this company is like a roller coaster.

Keep the new skills for RS3 PLEASE. Vote no!

Complaining about too many polls? That's what you get when you whine your way into "controlling" updates. IMO Jagex should just say shove off players, enjoy the updates we bring and only consult us on game changing updates (I.* the new skills, combat changes****, etc)
