I like the idea, but I feel most of the really useful rewards such as the combat buffs, powerful runes, and other large advantages from artisan would demean hard-working fisher's/ miner's ect. achievments before artisan is realesed. I definitely support the "one-up" benefits/rewards from artisan, but I feel that making it too easy to obtain would just be unfair to hardworking honest skillers. I suggest to help balancing those powerful "bracelets, totems, runes ect." should be much harder to make (and easier to degerade?) to prevent devaluing our skillers. (i.e. a doom rune is made 1 out of 5 tries, and req. 75 rc and 76 art. The rest of the essence is made into ordinary chaos/death runes.) Ty and I hope you take this into consideration. Devdog

The updated version still doesn't address the issue of providing relevant rewards to the game. I liked the idea of savant tools (pickaxe, hatchet, etc). They should have high requirements to use and be the best tools in the game. Other than that... this skill still seems like it would be better as a minigame. If players don't benefit enough from the rewards, why would they train it? I feel like at this stage it's an unnecessary update and a waste of development time. Will keep checking back.

Had an idea for crafting to make jewelry more useful and create a HUGE item sink :)

We currently have jewelry which let's say Dragonstone becomes Amulet of Glory and Emerald becomes Ring of Dueling, etc.. What if with Artisan we can learn a new ability to infuse the effects of one jewelry into a different type jewelry. E.g. Ring of Dueling could become an Amulet of Dueling or Ring of Life could become Bracelet of Life.

I know there can be some doubt for this idea, but read below on what exactly will be required of this jewelry!

1. When you infuse the properties of a piece of jewelry into another type that new jewelry takes on 0 combat stats. I.e. If you wanted a Ring of Glory it would have 0's across the board while an Amulet of Glory actually has stats.

2. To infuse jewelry with the properties of another type you will need one of the new Artisan molds. Let's say for example you want to make a Ring of Glory. You will take an Amulet of Glory, Artisan Ring Mold, and a cut dragonstone to a furnace. The Amulet of Glory will be melted into a ring design and a new gem is placed on top. Retaining the effects of the Amulet of Glory, but losing all combat stats you will end up with a Ring of Glory.

3. The below jewelry would have the ability to be infused into a different type of jewelry. This will NOT work for combat related jewelry and no combat stats are retained!

Amulet-Nature.
Amulet-Glory.
Necklace-Gaming.
Necklace-Binding.
Necklace-Digsite.
Necklace-Phoenix
Neckace-Skills.
Ring-Recoil.
Ring-Dueling.
Ring-Life.
Ring-Wealth.
Ring-Stone.
Bracelet-Clay.
Bracelet-Castlewars.
Bracelet-Inoculation.
Bracelet-Abyssal.
Bracelet-Combat.
Bracelet-Regeneration.

Original message details are unavailable.
I made a thread a while ago, maybe you can use some of this as a reward.

New runes : An idea that came through my mind is getting a couple of new runes at a high artisan and runecrafting level when runecrafting. Every time you go runecrafting you have the chance of receiving some new runes. The chance of receiving them is very low and they will be short in supply and won't be sold in shops.

These new runes would be used in a couple of non combat spells, such as:

* Tan leather : Lets say you went to dragons and you have a full inventory of Black dragon leather. You would normally bank them, but no! If you have those runes with you,a high enough magic level you will create leather. At a high crafting level you would make them in black dragonhide bodies and such.
This will allow you to train combat as crafting and also save inventory space!

* Note items/ Looting bag bonus :If you get a rare rune called Pseismic rune you could use it to note 10 identical items, this would save you even more inventory space.
IF you consider this to be too much
then perhaps enchant a spell on the looting bag allowing you to use it outside the wilderness for 5 inventories!

Burry bones :Using the new, scarce runes all the bones the monster drop would be burried and also give the same xp as you would receive if you burry them at an altar!

Construction : At a high construction and artisan level you will be able to create ancient and lunar altars in your house, saving you time from going in the desert and the lunar isle to get those spellbooks!

...

I like the tan leather one. I like the note 10 items one assuming A. that the runes are EXTREMELY rare or B. it has a limit of once or twice per 24h. However, you go from noting 10 items to banking FIVE invys of looting bag OUTSIDE of the wildy. This is definitely way too overpowered regardless of the rarity of the rune imo.

Hi,

I would like to start off saying that I love this idea, however, if I log in to Old School one day and there's a scroll bar in my skills tab I am going to be quite angry.

I however would have no problem with this being similar to your Combat Level in which it formulates your 'Artisan skills' into an 'Artisan Level' that can be displayed in place of your combat level(or along with). for example a player with max all non-combat skills is not just level 3 combat, that player would be able to show off their 'Artisan Level' gain more respect for being a skiller than just being a little level 3 n00b.

I do really like this idea, but please do not make it a skill I hope that i have offered a reasonable compromise.

I personally can't wait for Artisan Skill! It sounds wonderful :) . I am worried it will be voted down because people love to troll new ideas but then complain when a skill doesn't get released. I am wondering if you had a high enough runecrafting level if you could make some UNTRADEABLE catalytic runes like the ones in FOG (which sadly is not in osrs). I say untradable because they would be a little crazy in price and people would just over use them without even having to try to obtain the correct level to use them.

How about not cluttering the game with a new skill just to add new content to existing ones, cut out the middleman. Or even better, not adding all of this clutter at all and maintaining the game that we voted for last year instead of turning it into another bloated mess of what it once was exactly like what happened with eoc. :)
