My only concern was about the coal into dust idea. That could potential become more annoying in order to get a hold onto big chunk off coal for the smithers. Perhaps make a lvl 35 rock for artisan where you get "perfect coal", which then can be grinded into dust.

Earlier versions of this new skill were automatic no votes. The latest version is much better. I would not automatically vote no. It does need tweaking. But after reading through this thread I got information overload digesting all the creative ideas others have mentioned and no longer know what I would like to offer as feedback.

Tough job. Good luck!
The point of the journey is not to arrive.

I'd strongly prefer if there weren't too many xp boosting rewards (such as boosting damage against certain monsters and increasing rate of resources), as this would devalue the achievements of people who have already obtained a high level or xp in the relevant skill/s.

Of course some such incentives may be necessary, but I'd just prefer it if they were kept to a minimum.

superior food suggestion:

Instead of making it occur randomly when cooking, give us a choice to either cook regular food, or superior.

For fish, there would be 2 options when cooking. The first is to cook it normal, like it is now. The second is to cook it thoroughly.

Cooking fish thoroughly takes way longer to cook, and the chance to burn increases.
It would not give a huge XP increase over regular cooking, however this gives players a choice: To get fast xp OR make money.

To cook superior food anything other than fish will require double the ingredients.
Superior food that gives a stat boost will give double the stat increase.
Superior food that does not give a stat boost but is not fish (tuna potato for example) will give 2 more HP instead of 1.

Big fish:

When fishing there is a small chance (maybe around 1 per inventory) that you catch a bigger version of that fish. These fish take 2 bites and heal the same as their normal version per bite. The only way to cook these without a big chance of burning is to use cooking gauntlest and lumbridge range.

There would not be superior version of these fish.
They could have an artisan requirement.
They could replace superior fish as explained above.

I wasn't too sure about Artisan but this thread made me change my mind, I'm actually looking forward to it and hopefully it'll be a great turn-out like most of new updates you guys made.

My suggestion: a special pestle & mortle that allows you to crush ''all'' or you could simply poll it outside of the skill poll to make our life easier ^^ your choice.

Honestly I don't think OSRS needs a new skill, development time should be spent else where in my opinion.

I agree, there are other things that need to be done before a new skill. I don't know why you insist on implementing new things into the game such as rooftop courses and motherload mine etc. I know the game needs to be kept interesting so I didn't really moan about these things but adding a new skill is just too far.

Will be voting no I'm afraid, it does not seem likely the poll will pass 75% judging by this thread so please use your time on something else.

P.S the name of Old School should be changed now.. Maybe call it "Oldgraphicsneweverythingelsescape"
Just kidding don't make a poll on that too

this is a step up in the right direction, better then the last dev blog by far :p however it just seems this idea "slayer for gathering" should be vastly expanded and make this skill not so much focused on a crafting/gathering aspect. adding other non combat skills would do just that, with more balanced rewards.

i like the idea of new places to train this skill and the idea of getting resources.

i like the reward ideas, and i like the ability to block unwanted skills to train.

i think for the skills we are training the player would want to benefit that skill too maybe not as-much as artisan but enough to make you want to train it as an alternative to your other skills.

so to re-cap,

add all non combat skills and incorporate it into this skill?

more rewards (balanced)?

more areas to train?

making this skill binift your other skill making it worth doing to some agreed degree.

main thing is, i don't want to see this skill to much as "crafting/gathering" but a skill where you can use all non combat skills in artisan and have it be worth doing for both artisan and the skills your using to complete the task, like how slayer allows for combat exp + slayer.

This is already so much better than the first version. Sounds much more like a skill and I love it.

I would personally love to see some kind of Gold magnet . Maybe it could have different versions collecting stacks of up to 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1000 coins respectively. It shouldn't be too easy to make though, this should be a rather exclusive item to own. A Bonecrusher would also be welcome from high level Artisan.

For shortcuts I'd definitely like to see one on Waterbirth Island leading up to the little mountain from the North-Eastern side. This would allow people to get to DKs alone. Another great one would be a shortcut to the Air Obelisk North of Edgeville. Both of these should require high level Artisan and Construction though, since they provide a much shorter alternative route.

Something that I did see mentioned in this thread was how Artisan would flood the market with these new items. I understand you'd only be able to make the new stuff on an assignment, but I can only imagine how many of these new items would be made by players simply grinding out 99. The last thing I'd want is for these rewards to be obsolete and worthless and everyone just trying to max a skill with hardly any benefits. (Since the new items are tradable.)

Just some food for thought. Otherwise, keep up the great work!
