This isn't a skill, it's a way to make other skills easier. If you don't level this one and grind at present way, you will have to do the same skills over. So, now you won't skill the present way and will have to do it this so called skill. It's like leveling combat to 99 and then do slayer.

P.S. "as much good as a chocolate teapot" laughing myself to death, Never heard that one before..

If we have to have a skill this is sounding better. I would rather see them added to the other skills than make a new one. Maybe it's because I don't like change or maybe it's because I think you are trying to do 2 things in one. Make a skill, add variety to the other skills.

And since it looks like you are going ahead then my input would be add a cobbler aspect. A girl can't have too many shoes and I'd love to have heels and lots of different colors to go with those new clothes. There are all kinds of things to make them out of, trees, ore, cows, gems, maybe new stuff would be adding wings or fire to them. And since I understand 2/3 rds of the players are guys they can have their boots but please heels!!!! for the ladies.

If i had to have some input on this skill, it would be that i think many people would enjoy if it wasn't a "I have a lot of money i can buy my way to 99" Please make acquiring the resources necessary. Kinda like Slayer, in slayer you cant simply buy all the materials you would need for 99 and get it, you actually have to earn it.

Did you even read the blog? at first you get a collecting task, then a crafting task with those collected items, or a new collecting task

It will stimulate you to train a skill but i highly doubt they will make it easier. Besides, after 2-3 99s your artisans will be 99 too

I think we're slowly approaching what invention is supposed to be.

I do want to say that this version is a step into the right direction. Leaving a concept like a skill to players was a horrible idea, players are nowhere near dedicated enough to create a concept for a skill.

Please, continue working on it with the OSRS team, report to us what you've come up with, and we'll make a decent skill together.

If you want to entice more players, try to find ways to make artisan actually feel like a skill rather than just a task system with random rewards.

When will the poll for it start?

The poll will start when the community is happy with where artisan is. I doubt you'll see it for a few week's yet.

do you not get people dont want the skill.. shoulda had " i dont want a new skill" option when voting for what skill we pick

What would the new logs be used for?

Furniture applications in the POHs?
I wouldn't mind having a nice redwood table.

Would we be able to grow these trees in farming?

Would we be able to burn them for firemaking?

or are they only going to be used for artisan crafting purposes?

At first I was going to vote no on this skill when the first of the dev blogs were coming out with information on it but this update to it definitely is more likely to get me to vote yes if the skill keeps going in this direction with these new resources and areas. Still don't like the totem influence on combat though. Just like the way the Slayer skill doesn't really influence the non-combat skills besides maybe broad arrows/bolts and crafting a slayer ring/helm, Artisan shouldn't affect combat if the primary goal of the skill is to bring more attention and get more people to train non-combat skills and add new things to them.
