Evening,

Whilst I love that you are thinking of new skills and other ways to improve the game, upon reading this forum I feel as though a lot of the community don't want this skill.

It does seem like a nice idea but as a lot of people have said it's not really adding anything new into the game that would be of use to us, it's just gaining exp for things we will already be doing inside the game.

Personally I feel as though OSRS doesn't need a new skill, I play the old servers as it's the game I played and loved when I was younger and the game I play and love today. Whilst I am not completely against the idea of a new skill I feel that it needs to be one that will bring something fresh into the game, something that compliments other skills without asking you to repeat many others. What I mean by this is the way that Mining is linked to your Smithing, Woodcutting to Firemaking and Fletching and so on. If the dev team and the community were able to think of a skill like this I would love to see it implemented.

I'm not saying this because I have a skill in mind, I just would like to hear more about what the general community thinks of the idea. If you have been unclear on this I mean a new skill that could benefit one of the ones we already know and love, for example, a skill that creates new items (somewhat like Herblore) that benefits more skilling skills as Herblore is mainly focused towards combat.

I'd love to know what people have to say about this but I just feel that the current mindset of the community's wish for change is very negative.

Ohhh god no please dont. Why would you think this is a good idea for a skill? this is just non-combat slayer. Thats not even remotely good. It really is just having a skill tell another skill what to do, and doing the task for slayer- i mean artisan points- i mean motes. Seriously this is the best idea we all came up with? That forestry skill was a better idea, and that wasen't half bad it was basically a construction like skill that lets you control you're own forest in a pof (Player owned forest), and use all of you're other skills to combat forest threats, grow the forest, collect herbs, and other items from it, and following from runescape's greatest tradition letting you discover secret's, and hidden parts of the forest. Why did that only get 19%? How many of you people are from eoc? It is awfully close to divination in many way's, But the more important question to ask is to jagex. Why was this artisan skill even one of the top 5? Were you that strapped for good one's?; that, and it only got 49% of the vote that's still a haaaaard noooooooo why are we even going to vote on it again? If it pass's that will be riot city for weeks over a skill that no one "from oldschool" wants. Ill bet money a good 25 to 30% of the vote's for artisan came from people playing eoc.

When I first saw "Artisan" for a skill I instantly thought of crafting. If a new skill needs to be added to the game, I think it should be at least semi-unique. I myself would prefer no new skills, but I know the community likes new additions to the game. All the buffs and doubling effects laid out within this artisan skill seem unnecessary, and not very "old school" Runescape. Buffs and other effects that boost item/exp gain seem more fit for RS3, simplicity in OS Runescape is something that makes it addicting and fun.
All in all, I will be voting no for this skill. And honestly, I thought the team working on OSRS would just be providing support, i.e bug patches, just to keep the game running smoothly and not makes changes. Would have been nice. Since a skill is obviously going to be added to the game, it would be nice if it was something unique and stand alone.

This looks like a version of dailies from RS3. Don't let OSRS go down the same path.

Also, I quoted this on some thread I made a few weeks ago: It seems to me as if all the logical niches have been filled when it comes to creating content for new skills, and any new skill ideas from here on out seem like forced content. This is exactly the result of forced content.

The Artisan has some potential to be a successful skill.
Majority of the people fear that this skill will be a grinding skill. Which it
is in some way. My goal for my post is to add suggestions to make the tasks
more appealing, reduce the grind, and have interesting rewards for the Tools
and Superior Items.

I apologize that this is a long post, I hope some of the ideas I have will
bring some light on how this skill can be used to make that, "I am getting
level X for X in Artisan!".

In my examples, I will place variables for various things.
N = Name of object
X = Number of Object
L = Location
P = NPC person/creature

=====================
--Work Orders--
The tasks can be given out as Work Orders from the Artisan Masters. Work
Orders is what is being asked for from NPC's around the RuneScape. You can
choose your Work Order from 5 different ones. A player can also have a daily
Roll Over. A Roll Over means that a new Work Order is provided as a choice and
the old ones listed will be removed from the list. In addition, new Work
Orders are given out every 30minutes. This allows the player to see new ones
without having to choose a Roll Over. All 5 Work Orders can be saved so the
30minute Roll Over won't cancel out what you have made.
A Player also has the choice to Block Out Work Orders as well as Skills. This
means, a player will not be asked for certain Work Orders.
(This could require Mote of Inspiration, but who knows).
Last but not least, Work Orders that are not assigned to a specific skill --
meaning, some tasks just require to deliver something and you just get Mote of
Inspiration and Artisan Exp.
