So I voted for Forestry and I was genuinely shocked (and almost disgusted) that Artisan seems to have already won the poll. I know this doesn't mean it will be implemented into the game, hell I certainly won't be voting for it. Taking an already existing feature of RS3 and trying to make it a skill does not make it so. By all means develop an OSRS task system or integrate into the upcoming achievement diaries or something, but it's not a skill. People are right, it will bring older, possibly dead content back to life which is "what this game needs" but I disagree. We need new ideas not old content to be "resurrected". You also have to look at it the other way which is, in order to train this new skill, you're forced to gain experience in other skills you may not wish to (there's only so many you can block) and you are forced to complete a task you otherwise wouldn't. It brings nothing new to the game whatsoever.
Here's what I think is going to happen/has happened: Everyone has chosen Artisan because of the fanatic skillers that feel OSRS is all about Combat (I too was a skiller back in the day, now I am Slayer-based), they want something that defines them. Or people have simply voted for the first option due to laziness and/or they cannot be bothered to read all the documents in this thread.
Artisan will be introduced as a task system similar if not exactly the same to that of RS3, if this is not one of the options as to Artisan's fate in the poll on June 18, the OSRS team has failed.
Forestry may be considered at a later date as a minigame, I admit it's not a skill persée but it's one of the best and unique ideas listed.
Geomancy may be added as an addition to Magic/Crafting.
Astronomy will be scrapped, it hasn't been well thought out or fleshed out enough in order for it to be a skill.
I don't need to talk about Herding.
