I see a lot of people say that we should stop polling things and I think that's the worst possible thing to do simply because jagex isn't always aware of what most players want and with the polls we can pull the brakes on anything that has obvious flaws.

Also you don't get to chose whether someone's reason for voting yes or no is valid or not, because it's not your opinion. You only get to have one opinion and I see a few people posting on here religiously trying to have more influence than a single person by making many posts, but to those I say that it likely doesn't do much you're only annoying everyone

It's a mixed bag. Polls make it near impossible to nerf things, like NMZ and splashing. Even that poll to remove the 200 def exp bonus from a kbd head failed.

I wanted to hate this. I mean this has always been banded about as nothing more then a glorified joke. I Mean c'mon sailing how in the hell can you make it interesting or even make it more then a over hyped mini game?!
But the more i hear about it and read about it i see it has a lot more depth then just a mini game. I remember all the negative hype construction got back in the day so not everyone is going to be happy about it. Its something different and im all for it. The game will stagnate without a little bit of a change.

It is very apparent reading through the thread that many people don't want anything that isn't already in rs3. It may just be risk averse thinking, but we wont get anything new with this attitude as it is inconceivable for the community to vote on every little detail.

I would be up for having a server much like the tournament ones to try new major content like sailing before voting.

But why should this tiny dev team spend countless hours designing something that is currently destined to fail a poll?

Have they nothing better to do than design content that won't pass a poll? Without even polling it first?

The few resources this old game has should NOT be used for content that cannot be expected to pass a poll.

I agree it's a realistic expectation that they could provide beta testing on potentially new content.. but only after and IF it passed a poll first (otherwise, it's wasted dev time that could have been spent in any number of ways that would benefit the old game).

Let me help you think for a second...

If you polled the question' Would you like to see sailing added to the game?' WITHOUT giving any details on how you would do sailing or what you would gain, COMMON SENSE will tell you that of course the damn poll would fail. Who would try to poll something without any information given? You must be stupid if you think that is the route to go.

Now, COMMON SENSE will tell you... NOW that information is given on a broad look at sailing PLUS how you will go about to train it.. It has more of a chance to pass.

AS MORE INFORMATION is released in the following weeks, it has more of a chance to pass. IF YOU CANT SEE that lots of people are for this ... then it is worth at least attempting to do it. POLLING something without any information would be a stupid stupid thing to do. Jagex has said countless of times this is not wasting any of their time.

NOTE

to people saying it will make construction even more expensive and new planks should be added:

what do you think will happen? the people botting for logs that keep construction at a reasonable price will move on to these more expensive sailing (let's call it navigation, sailing was a joke) planks and make money there. results? sailing is expensive, then becomes cheap, construction was ok-priced, now it becomes expensive due to low amounts of logs and planks hitting the market. if we use normal planks already in the game, then prices will rise for a short amount of time, then level out and finally drop past original prices or close to original prices.

Jagex brought this sailing skill idea to the players with absolutely ZERO information. It met with overwhelming rejection.

Jagex then offered nothing more than the Q&A they had already shared via reddit AND twitter. Still meeting with overwhelming rejection.

Here, jagex offers very little additional detail (and in fact the primary issue with this thread is the players and not jagex) and yet you still blindly believe everyone should support the 'sailing skill'. Why, because jagex said so? (that's rhetorical, don't bother)

Jagex clearly had no idea, when presenting this, of what the 'sailing skill' would entail and as such it HAS and SHOULD continue to meet with rejection in a large enough quantity that even those jagex fanboys should be able to identify is more than enough to ensure it doesn't pass a poll (takes a mere 26% to fail).

You (as in jagex, not you) take too long to provide information and those believing no is the response that should be offered will do nothing more than solidify their decisions.

They can offer whatever (however little) information they choose, but the longer they take the more assurance they have that the players (enough of them) will simply say NO.

This game isn't about 'the majority' or what they want. It's about the super majority and the super majority are NOT behind this sailing skill idea. Get over it.

You must not be able to read cause the first developers blog had information in it when they released the idea of sailing. ALSO you won't know what the super majority is until polls come out. Why are you in such denial, Angel2D4?

Another thing...Developer blogs are once a week. Get over how long it takes to get information. If you want more information, then wait until Friday to read more about it. I don't care if people vote no or vote yes. This isn't about a yes or no vote, it is about how stupid you are and the comments you make.

Nah, it's about how toxic the community is and you are a prime example of exactly that.

You do seem quite bent out of shape over peeps that sit here giggling that the poll for sailing will fail. Bummer. For you, not for me lol
