I hate the runescape community, closed minded, and never wanting to change. Exploration, like when we were noobs !

Are you guys just lazy to up another skill or just do no want new content ?

Watch out soon they will want deviousmud back, the 'true runescape'.

It sounds like a lot of fun to me. I'd really like to see a use of Firemaking in this skill, as it's basically useless now. The combination of micro-managing (like Farming) and active playing also seems a lot of fun. Curious to see what further dev blogs will look like!

Also, to you ' hur dur this isn't RS3' players: a game needs new content to survive. Don't just hate on it because it's something new, but rather add ideas so it fits your liking as well.

A whole lot going on here. I think that it should be addressed that this is a Developer Blog, NOT something that is definitely happening yet. more of a proposal of things that COULD happen. "beginning of our discussions of sailing". If the mass truely doesnt want it, it won't happen.

Firstly, i think the addition of a new skill should also be encompassed by a new range of items that come forth with it. otherwise, it will just be like thieving, in the aspect that you do it just to claim more items that are already in the game. The same goes for enemies.

Also, it has a huge potential to actually open up the game vastly more than what it is now. currently any expansion that happens is usually in places where the map just ends. Hence the introduction of Zeah being a totally seperate entity.

Secondly, with the expansion of such a huge potential area is how it will be navigated. will it be a missions based thing; like being given a chart in which i must plot my own route to succeed in the objective? This seems like the only logical conclusion, as an open world free roam would be very difficult to justify experience. Like being given experience in strength for walking from lumby to ardougne. hard to quantify.

I will give some credit to people saying it sounds like a mini-game rather than a skill, because if the skill were to be like it is above ( Mission based objective with randomized paths). but i think where the variety will come from will be the missions that you get coming from specific port owners**** the rimmington port will give low level 1-20 missions. Where as the Tyras camp port might give 70-80 missions.

However it will make Sailing more like Slayer in that aspect. get your mission, go to your ship at your port, prepare kit for you & Boat and go do the mission. Perhaps even a points system like in slayer could be introduced. Just a thought.

I think it will give a huge new refresh for the game as many players who left because of stale content will want to come back in to check out the new skill and entourage of places to go; things to get; enemies to kill. I'm looking forward to seeing what the dev team puts forward in its next Developer Blog.

As a side note; it is entertaining to read through 97 pages of comments and basically not see a single JMod touch the thing. Probably busy reading all the hate comments.

It was a good read and interesting in new content for the game, but sailing come on. I know I think a year ago you had a new skill maker contest and a skill won that was just like slayer but the skill version of it. Like a npc will give you a task based on your skill level ie construct me 50 oak tables or fish me 100 monkfish. This was a good idea and I thought this new skill was in the works. Please make this happen not this sailing skill. Like I said after the read was great new content details, but work on the skill that was mentioned in the contest last year before this. Thanks hope I get a reply from a mod.

I had to double check that I hadn't woken up on April 1st.

Sailing had been an ongoing joke for many years and now it will be like dungeoneering all over again if this goes ahead, turning a mini game into a skill. Basically the OS Version of Player Owned Ports.

Please lower the % of votes to pass this poll... Don't allow 26% of narrow-minded people ruin this for us!!!! If this doesn't pass I'll probably quit. People who don't want to go for a MAX CAPE actually need new content....

What happened to "The players make the choices?" You have already scheduled the release, without even polling it? What's next? Planning the release of EOCscape without asking us what we want? I realize that you have asked for what we think, and that our opinions are vital, but it already sounds like you have made up your minds, since there is a release date. You asked for my feedback, and here it is. I would hate to have sailing put into the game, because it would be another damned thing for me to have to train. Why can't we just keep oldschool the way it is?
At least poll it. You guys just deciding to put it in without polling it would upset me a lot more than if it were passed by the community.
