Maybe we could head East, and just head on and on, until we reach the Eastern Lands?

We all know the world is flat, but if the new continent were to the west, then you could make the world round, or possibly cylindrical, like Pac Man.

I hate how you think thats fair? thats fixing a vote..! you only vote yes or no on 1 account or it's unfair thats just cheating..

I guess this shows how bad people cry.. you guy's have to make lots of Accounts to vote no to an update..

Jagex should just make this a rule because thats just disgusting.

What are your reasons for voting no? You didn't share them.

Seriously, I really don't get what is wrong with the Old School community?! Did 75% of the player base just jump from "RS3" because it failed big and now want to "remake everything besides its failures - EOC, stupid xp gains, and stupid minigame skills!

God use your blady imagination and stop with the attitude of "HATES GONNA HATE HATE," it's easier to just criticise than to use your brain and think up some constructive ideas. This thread has 95% people using the phrase "april fools isn't yet" or "bring back dung."

Now rant over - good concept but you haven't gone far enough to sell this as a skill. It needs to be more like Construction based - where you "build your own ship" from scratch and create new "rooms" - i.e Cabins. captain's quarters, and have in each room select hotspots - i.e streeing wheel to change direction of navigation, telescop to "spy" enemy ships or "engage in a random encounter" and galley to load cannons and create ammunition using smithing skill - fish spots from top floor like trawler nets. You could make this a very interactive skill that could encompass all skills and make a very cool ship to be proud of! Not forgetting all the "locations" you could add - i wouldn't add rigour though as that forces people to train who maybe are not combat orientated - then you get stuff like dungeoneering happening where everyone "pays for xp" just to get stupid chaaotics.

But yes good, concept but needs many tweaks and a rethink. - I really don't care if these haters comeback and go "oh you have a brain!!! DUNG DUNG SUMMON RS3 no eoc please....

People would rather have summoning or dungeoneering and not a brand new skill?

The community response on this project is just /facepalm

This is old school. It's not about experiencing anything new, it's about reliving our childhood. /sarcasm

Sailing has the potential to be really good content (just like zeah) however I think it'll be really hard to get it done right, mostly because so many people have different ideas about what sailing should be. There is a legacy associated with it that cannot be met.

Also I have the feeling this will be a dungeoneering-Zeah skill. What I mean by that is dungeoneering is more like a minigame than a skill and I have the feeling sailing will also be like that. Also Zeah was going to open the world up to new races, skill areas, cities, etc and this feels like another way of doing this, however since Zeah is still planned then I can't see why you want the same effect multiple times. Additionally I think player owned ports and sailing will always have similarities and people may think old school sailing is stealing from player owned ports

Like I said it has potential to be really good content but I just don't think it's worth the time because it'll have to be so incredibly perfect. I'd suggest looking into adding more quests and minigames instead of this.
RIP Forums :(
Finally we have signatures in the surprise forum update. I'm Lewis, I play Old School & I've been playing since 2005.

Whenever something requires randomly generated instances, I feel like it no longer serves a purpose as a skill. A skill has to take place on the main lands and be accessable throughout it. If sailing is going to happen mainly in instances, it sounds more like a minigame, just like dungeoneering did.

Though I see potential in the skill, I think it would be very important to not make the same mistake by making it more of a minigame. Make the skill practicable on the main world, leave instance based adventures for minigames.

i actually thought i was going to be forced to flame this when i saw it on the main page. as an oldschool player from begining to end, and against most uodates to this game that have been made since before 2007 even.

however, it looks like it might be a good update if done right. i just hope it doesn't kill off too much existing content.

to anyone saying they would rather have summoning or dungeoneering... gtfo and go back to EOC, k thanks, bye.

(also i am against instances, after reading other replies i had to add this.)

"I think it shouldn't be a poll they should add it behind our backs due to saving the game the community would cry for an hour then relise the updates going to be good for the game and keep the game fun and new."

Really?

And that worked so well with eoc?

The community certainly isn't always right about what's best for the game but, track record says that neither is jagex and if you encourage them to not poll one thing they certainly will stop polling many things (after all, they will claim they had community support to stop polling things).

To those that want sailing skill added to the game:

Y'all need to get enough support for it to pass a poll, not try to eliminate polling it.

Here's some 'food for thought' though:

What safeguards are in place to prevent RS3's players from coming over here and voting NO because they aren't getting it in the main game? What's it take, an hour, to get enough total levels to vote in old school?
