I'm sorry but sailing is a bad idea to me. I would not lvl it up at all. How bought you make it a minigame pvp style like castle wars. this way people who want to sail can sail. Don't waste money on a big team making a skill, which most of the commenters of this post wont like.

Instead I think you should reinvent summoning in a way that will fit into this version of Runescape 2007. It was such a useful skill that also was a good gp dump.

Also while all this sounds good in the written word, what about logistics? There's still no real timetable on Zeah even..or is there?

At the rate and current constraint of the content DEV team in OSRS ...we will probably see sailing in about late 2016- early 2017.

Not worth it. But I guess if it passes, it passes.

I'm indifferent on my vote for now, but probably giving it a no.

Zeah will have raids so dedicating time to a minigame style skill when we're already getting it would be kind of silly. And even then who wants the same old tired out content? And on top of that the community is so stingy with what gets put in that there wouldn't be in rewards for training the skill. No one wants chaotics, we don't want any form of devaluing and dung encompasses all skills and would take ages to incorporate them all. Think of Alfrd and Ghost doing all that work.

Sailing IS dung on steriods, imagine doing the same thing dung offers but with an exploration factor. And to all the nay sayers due to the pvp aspect we shape the content they will take note of it and remove that aspect if enough people share their concerns. We have the ability to create something new, something refreshing if people are so concerned with having the same content go play RS3 on legacy mode.

With all that aside I love this idea, it would notch off a lot of what people want and give life to skills elsewhere. I think construction and other skills should play a role in sailing not in Rs3's way of going about it but crafting for better sails higher construction for a sturdier ship, higher fishing for better fish caught whilst traveling to new areas etc.

Copying my previous post

I've yet to see a good, non-opinion based argument as to why Sailing (skill or minigame) should not pass.

People want Dungeoneering, and this gives you access to new resources and other rewards like DG did, yet this is inferior for some reason?

Summoning wasn't spectacular either. A tedious way to train, camping waterfiends on end for an item used to make a pouch, the only real way to train the skill. You literally did not even have to summon anything to train summoning.

I'll be voting yes and I encourage the nay-sayers to wait for the next dev blog on it.

HELL YEAH !!! Something new, something fresh, something exploratory. Yes.

"Discover Fossil Island."

Isn't it called Kudos Island in OSRS?

Please include the famous Underwater City that was mentioned in the Postbag from the Hedge :)

At the end of the dev blog:

We plan to release sailing early next year. The release of sailing will not change anything in our current release schedule that we discussed earlier this year.

To name a couple of the largest projects we have planned, deadman mode is still heading your way in October and Zeah is still planned for June next year. Sailing may even act as the perfect stepping stone for you to venture to the land to the west.

To help achieve all of this, we will soon be starting the search for two developers to join us on the Old School team.

Did you even read the post? It said they are hiring TWO NEW DEVS to the team. Zeah is expected in June of next year. You also didn't read the part about their schedule, indicating the BIG projects they are working on are...big.
