using efficient rates makes sense but i understand his point to is that majority of rs players aren't going to get those rates considering not everyone is 100% focused on maxing with the best rates.

That's true, but i just don't want other peoples mining achivements to get devalued. New updates can be usefull while they doesn't devalue other methods. The current mlm is a good example of this.

@beatrix, Lets not get carried away, you're still a long way from everything 90+, i dont think most of these are too powerful (something can't be too *P as it is an absolute), i do think that many of the rewards should be reserved for late and definitly not be easy or medium rewards, unless the requirements for these will be very much superior to karamja diary requirements apart from elite.

Lets asume you have double nats as an income and 300k gp/h is 25% of what you are making with nats.

so the efficient rate for the current mlm is:
(mlm xp/h)/(quarry xp/h) + 25% = (43/63) + 25%= 93% (63 is from the cml supplies calc)

So the mlm is actually 93% efficient if your income is double nats at the moment

If we now add the 12.5% xp boost from the achivement diary (48k instead 43k)

efficient rate for mlm with the xp boost
(mlm xp/h)/(quarry xp/h) + 25% = (48/63) + 25% = 101%

And keep in mind i do not take into considerations the extra money you get from the 10% double ore boost. So the efficient rate for the new mlm could be higher.

If my calculations are correct i think it is a bit sad that mlm is going to be more efficient than quarry, because quarry takes alot more effort. And more effort should always be equal to more xp.


Ehh the whole 1M = 1 hour thing is debatable. I'm sure you know there is a certain overly dumb money making method that is 2-3M+/hour, but grants no XP.. The main issue with considering 1M as 1 hour is that it doesn't factor in the RC experience that you'd get. For example,

MLM @ 43K/h would be 303 hours now, or 271 hours with the boosted XP. You'd make say 81.3M ontop of that.

Granite @ 70K/h would be 186 hours, but you wouldn't make any GP. With the 85 hours you save, you could RC and make ~85-100M. So if you only read this far, they're about the same 'efficiency'.. But there's the whole 2.2?Mil RuneCrafting XP that comes with the granite method, that actually makes it way more efficient. Basically, I wouldn't say 1M=1H when there's no XP gained. (Would you do a 0XP hour to make 1M?)

Granite will still get you to maxed more efficiently than MLM, that'll never change.

I'd rather just have the first diaries that came out like.. varrock/ardougne/seers/falador.. and not the morytania etc that came along later when the game was being filled with bonus xp and faster money making


Most if not all of your arguments aren't properly thought out,
you need to consider alot of the rewards are elite and no longer relevant to the player in question, just consider the reqs will be high and only a handful of ppl will have acces to them, you'll maybe have to grind 100s of hours to achieve these o* moneymethods or w/e

Are there any posts anywhere by a Jmod telling what levels we need to complete the achievement diaries? Would be cool to start now to gain the levels, as I have nothing better to do :3

You are right you are not understanding my point. You are completely missing it. My point is, why for a gathering skill does the best experience, revolve around not gathering anything. That is bad design and i dont think the preservation of bad design is paramount to this game. I would much rather motherlode mine take the forefront in leveling as it is actual meaningful content.
