No, the point is to give scales value. You repair the gear with scales.


It seems like every new up coming item needs to get charges or broke after a decent time...

Charges = gives whatever is used to charge the item (whips****'s, etc) a sink (=value).
Breaking = gp sink.

Another thought is the scale charging rate for items compared to drop of scales. For example lets say the helm is 1000 scales to recharge. With a drop rate of scales being 30-60 (average around 45) that would be about about a 4.5% of a full charge per scale drop from the snake. That to me might be a little high. Killing around 23 snakes would charge an item fully and would make charging the item fairly easy with scales. Having the rate be 1-2% of scale drop per recharge of item to me would be better. Would make the scales more valuable and a better value as a consistent drop.

Just a thought from a player who has played runescape for over ten years. :)

can we also make it that the drop rate of the bone fragments or pieces of this fang-type weapons/armour be incredibly rare? I mean it goes without saying (this boss sounds VERY SIMILAR to the new spider boss in EOC) that the drops should be rare, but can we make them 1/512 or higher? i hate people that just farm new bosses and get the items cu they're lucky (i have a friend that has had 2 arma hilts in 4 days with me, 4 arcane, 2 spectral, and 4 more arma hilts when the kc update was broken * all of which were HIS drop...)


can we pls make it rare AF so we don't see them in game for sometime? i just hate how trident is 600k and tentacle is like near the same price lmao...

I agree with that idea as well, makes those new items way more valuable and that grind for those new items well worth.

Possibly make the new snake boss also a slayer task assignment as well for points.

Something similar to how ice strikes where Pre EOC. I think though 1000 slayer points to get this unlocked would be the ONLY way to do it and not have an item worn to do task.

The amount on task should be no more than 125 and range from 45-120 IMO.

Please no... There will always be lucky people, but you're saying that you think sigils are too common (1/1365) and you want these to be even rarer? I was thinking 1/256 to land on the snake table (1/768 for a specific item)... Just because someone beat the drop rates it doesn't mean everyone gets 20 elysians daily, for every super lucky person there's going to be a super unlucky person, you need to realise that a drop rate is a drop rate, after the boss is killed 100k times there will obviously be someone who's getting drops 2-3x more often than other people, but overall the drop rate will average out to 1/128, 1/256, 1/512 or whatever it is.

I've changed the negative bonuses on the Serpentine helm to -5 from -10, this keeps the helm melee focused and doesn't hurt you too much should you want to hybrid while you're still better off with a helm switch and still allows for a ranged and magic variant of the helmet in the future.

Regarding the drop rate discussion, those won't be decided until the boss has been completed and balanced. One of my core aims for this project is to provide a good source of stable income, I'd like to achieve this with the standard drop table so the signature drops can be rare.

I would love to see some future boss loots be similar to how you formed the orb of the armadyl battle staff whereby it took you a long time to collect 100 shards that were untradable and you were given a long term reward should you be unlucky with the other rare loots whilst collecting the shards :)
