You really think everyone will be risking them? That's just stupid... Neitz will be cheaper for pking and ancient staff + ags is better for bridding, more KO potential. Unless you're going for some high risk PKs in which case both will be using the staff anyway and both will probably bring antis. Also, you're like 240 total - did you make that account just to beable to vote no to things? That's pathetic...

No thanks. I'm planning on camping this boss for a very long time, once I've got one of each weapon what do you want me to do with the rest that I get? I go bossing for profit - I don't need 100 blow darts...

Also, maybe there could be a "dismantle" option on the new gear which would result in a large amount of scales. So if you got a drop you already own, you could dismantle it and sell the scales.

There's a major flaw in your reasoning. If the equipment is untradable , the demand of the scales will be significantly lessoned. Even more so when you consider the fact that people will be getting plenty of scales as they go for the equipment that they want.

Believe magic to only be for support? Think again. It's just as valid of a Pking style as melee and range is.

The pipe is a great weapon for pkers, and those will probably not be able to kill the boss (at least pures/zerkers). Making it untradeable will make it less popular.
Also, most people don´* want to play ironman if you know what I mean.

Lets say you get a blow dart drop, maybe you could dismantle it for an item that you could trade in to an NPC in the beasts lair for a lump sum of gold or something else valuable.

It wouldn't have to be scales my friend, think outside of the box.
It could be anything that the community decides. This boss is going to result in millions of people camping it and then the economy will be swamped with these new items making their price crash dramatically. So, basically the same flaw that you're stating my suggestion has.
