I would be completely fine with the new spirit shield if their effects were modified roughly to around here:

Divine - Reduces damage by 20% + original prayer point drainage

Elysian - reduces damage by 15%, 50-60% of the time

Arcane - Cut +20 mage bonus into +15

Spectral - Keep the same, its alright :D

Well, just giving my opinion but at what i currently read (been here since start of the thread) i won't vote yes for this poll.

For some old school means old graphics, for me it's a way of gameplay and adding spirit shields woul just go into the direction of rs3.


Actually most play just because it's not EOC. I feel progression is needed in a game like this... That means introducing higher level content and challenges. It's been that way since RS has begun. Many don't not like the progression that happened with RS3, but that doesn't mean we should bar progression off in OS.

What state would this game have been in by now if GWD hadn't been introduced?


so it's only a challenge if a hard to kill monster drops valuable items? When it doesn't drop sigils it's "death content", nice logic. It would be a challenge to kill thougher bosses without improving the gear.


I think your missing the point. It's dead content if it doesn't drop something worth the challenge. When people boss, they want the drops... If the boss is difficult, then there needs to be a good incentive to hunt. If the boss doesn't have something desirable to drop, not very many people will hunt it. Thus it creates dead content. People kill abyssal demons for whips... People kill GWD for armors and hilts. DKs are killed for the rings... **c

Most people PVM for the drops or rewards.


kill corp for bulk ranarrs and other herbs, bulk seeds, bulk planks/logs etc

That's not really sustainable, and will just crash the prices of those item until we hear the same complain as in RS3, that it's faster to PvM for resources like logs and herbs than to actually use the appropriate skill. The only way we can do this is with new gear, and it doesn't necessarily have

Btw, if you're gonna bring corp into the game with 1b+ drops you should probably add some sort of lootsharing system. Maybe an option to get "shards" like you are currently in the main game from Vorago?

Relying on people's honor when it comes to such expensive rewards is shaky at best.

I want the shields to be the way they were, it wont make the players OP. Players were OP because they had curses, summoning, overloads, and chaotics which made PVM really easy. Right now it's impossible to do more than 3-4 kills per trip solo at gwd and it's kind of annoying getting keys or kc every 15 minutes to solo gwd bosses. I want the spirit shields to be the way they were so players can solo or duo more kills per trip and it will prevent corp from being dead content and i'm not going to spend 400-500k a trip to split a 50m shield with 6-8 people which will take days to get.

Keep the old sigil drops with additional effects, if you dont do so, people wont find corp worthwhile to kill, since it is 2007 and the gear is limited and corp would be hard to kill and not rewarding.
You might want to tweak the effects down a few percentages for the divine, elysian and arcane to about

Divine Amulet

+20 on all Defenses
+7 Pray



Elysian Amulet

+15 Range
+5 Pray
(no other stats)



Spectral Hat

Attack Bonus:
-5 Stab
-5 Slash
-5 Crush
+10 Magic
-5 Range


Defense Bonus:
+20 Stab
+20 Slash
+20 Crush
+8 Magic
+0 Range




Spectral Robe Top

Attack Bonus:
-15 Stab

Currently mage doesn't have any good armour like Bandos or Armadyl and this would help fill in the gaps.


Doesn't this look better than the shields to anyone? Its not overpowered like the shields some of you want, think new, not old.

200+ qp 100+ combat req and maybe like a new guardian who wont let anyone without the stats/qp req pass because he is trying to save them for certain death . For the drops maybe one or 2 of the spirit shields prolly the elysian and divine but if the divine is introduced it needs to be somewhat nerfed and then introduce a brand new 85 attack weapon called the corporal hammer which has maybe some speed between whip-godsword but it is stronger than the godswords but does not have a spec. This would be a one handed weapon and be mainly for pvming when you dont require def cus you will not be able to have a shield and then will help introduce some more variety into pvp. Just an idea :p

^This. Can't introduce corporeal beast with its difficulty without making it rewarding. The shields were only 'overpowered' with turmoil and the like.
