That mentality is quite sickening. Returning untradable items means you attach your own values to them and don't let others affect your values. Just because someone else enjoys the content doesn't mean your item is now less prestigious. Do you see anyone going around bragging:

"Hey, look at me! I'm the ultimate treasure hunter player by obtaining these exclusive ghost weave!"

I don't think so.

"Hey, look at me! I'm the ultimate treasure hunter player by obtaining these exclusive ghost weave!"

everyone has their own way in completing the game. Some are lvl 3 skillers,osrs players,hoarders,costmetic noobs, and others wanna do things that other players can't like having 10 phat sets and achieving insane pvm achievements.

im just sad jagex use to make great discontinued promos and everything was balanced but now well you get the picture best not even look at it.

My theory:

While we've known this promotion was coming since early October, they could still be using this promotion's collection mechanic as an experiment. A lot of people (not myself) have been asking them to make more of the promotions cosmetic rather than xp related. When you think about just how desirable the xp is from the promotions, from a business perspective you would need cosmetics that are pretty valuable if the objective were to make TH more cosmetic heavy. That means the cosmetics couldn't just be something you get with 30 or 40 keys. If all of the newer cosmetics are easy to get, it takes away a lot of value they have in general.

And allowing people to skill for the cosmetics hurts the value, so while they may have allowed it last time, excluding the skilling option this time let's them see how sales could go for future cosmetic promotions where you can't skill for the set. It can't be tradeable either because the price drop after a few days makes it extremely accessible for everyone.


In short, if you're someone who wants Treasure Hunter to be mostly cosmetic, expect the currency to be more rare without the option to skill for it (to preserve the value of cosmetics in general).

Everyone will be bored from cosmetics soon imo. As they say be careful what you wish for. I blocked all the combat xp on TH and as a result received so many useless materials and divine locations I felt like SOF was back. Soon ppl will be complaining again. Lets hope that Jagex comes up with a balanced concept for TH soon. Also to be fair ppl didn't ask for cosmetics that cost an arm and a leg but as with any gambling game it is a personal responsibility to draw the line

I think this promotion is made very porly and is worse than it should be.
I wasn't playing RuneScape when it was Ghostweave from previous two years, when you saw there was other way to get Ghostweave from skilling, you can tell there is something wrong.

600 free Ghostweave from using first key on this promo is actually still evry small. It could hurt if you made Ghostweave farm-able from skilling (like you could get 5 ghostweave instead of 15-25), increase this promo to weeks and increase amount you can get from TH. Neither it could hurt that this promo will arrive next year.

I would like to get Ghost Spirit Hunter costume, but there is no chance to get it as F2P player neither P2P players don't have that big chance to get it from what I read.
It's true I got today get value item from TH and froze fallen stars and lamps (big lamps are tottally useless for F2P players) but problem is too I get red value item again in 2-4 weeks.

It is just too much.

Ok.... I just came back from being in OSRS for 3 years and really lost as it is. I came back as the beach event was going on and that rocked but what the heck is this?!?! I am LOST!!! I have read through 16 pages just now and still don't understand it! I have been here for at least 10 years and this must be the worst event/ posting of one I have ever seen. Come on Jag. what the heck? Can you explain to us what this is exactly? I can't even understand if I craft this stuff or turn it in for crafting xp or save it for chocolate. Do I get an outfit or 5? Do i get to trick or treat and how, where? Quest are better explained then this event. Goes to the corner and cries.

That's exactly what I'm saying. Why should BlackWing or you care if others can get the set now rather than back then? You talk about how everyone should play the game as they desire yet want promos to be discontinued when they never were slated to be discontinued.
