Edit : Well with around 75 keys (with hearts of ice) you can expect to get at least ~400 (600 free for the first key) ghostweave. While I personally don't care if they were available through skilling or not, I think the community reception is interesting.

Very disappointed in how ghostweave promo is being run this time around, between not allowing people to earn them thru skilling and being crazy stingy when you do spin for them, feels a bit like a kick in the teeth.
While i realize that these promos are supposed to be money makers for you...and I understand that, its getting a bit much...would think it would be better for many people being willing to spend "x" amount of reasonable dollars and taking part vs a few people willing to spend crazy amounts...I mean honestly...are they spending enough to make up for those of us who are no longer willing to fork over the cash because they can no longer hope to complete the full promo?

I unlocked 3 outfits when this promo was first released in 2014. This was when ghostweave could be gained through skilling, as well as mtx.

So I purchased some keys, for curiosities sake. I used 100 keys and gained 620 ghostweave lol. The thing I got most was 'stars'.

Let me repeat, 6 2 0 ghostweave from 100 keys. I've decided not to use any more keys on this promotion. Guess I may get the other outfits, in another 3 years =)

Nice promotion, not executed wisely, imo.

cost me 170 dollars and one bond to get all the outfits from this year. had all of the past outfits. that's the most i've ever spent on a th promo and honestly i shouldn't have had to spend that much.

I can't believe this promotion is TH only with no chance to obtain weave during regular game activity, like with other promotions (seasonal outfits and such).

I used 10 Th keys tonight. Only 1 resulted in a prize of ghostweave, at a count of 50 (most of the reset were useless xp stars, though I freeze 10 xp categories whenever I can).

A mere 50 ghostweave from 10 keys. At this rate, I'd need to use 120 keys to make a single 600 weave outfit.

With most most outfits needing over 600 weave, I'd need to spend a fortune on TH keys if I wanted to make several (13,500 weave needed if I want to make them all would be 2700 keys, since I did get the 600 weave at TH reset tonight).

I'm sorry, but that is a ridiculous amount of extra money to spend for the small return. While I was looking forward to the ghostweave outfits, I'm very disappointed in the actual promotion and how it is set up.

Day 2 of Ghostweave and another 10 keys used. This time I got a bit luckier: 2 wins of ghost weave instead of 1. But at only 20 weave each, that's 40 weave today, added to my 50 from yesterday's single win: I'm up to a grand total of
90 ghostweave from 20 keys
. :(

My keys used have been saved up from daily challenges and skilling drops. I refuse to buy keys with ridiculous rates such as this. I have 1 outfit from the previous time the promotion was run. To make the other 5 outfits needed in order to unlock the title, I still need 3,110 weave.

Seriously Jagex, at an average of 5 weave per key, I'd have to buy 622 keys just for the initial outfits to unlock the title, totally dismissing the chance at the other 9 outfits. It's not happening. I'll go without, again, rather than wasting the money on such a low gamble.

I cannot believe the way this promotion is being run this time around. Too many useless stars on TH these days instead of better chances to actually obtain the special promotion drops.

If you're someone who is telling Jagex to release mostly cosmetics through TH, you have to understand that this is the most ideal way to do it. (I don't support that)

My theory:

While we've known this promotion was coming since early October, they could still be using this promotion's collection mechanic as an experiment. A lot of people (not myself) have been asking them to make more of the promotions cosmetic rather than xp related. When you think about just how desirable the xp is from the promotions, from a business perspective you would need cosmetics that are pretty valuable if the objective were to make TH more cosmetic heavy. That means the cosmetics couldn't just be something you get with 30 or 40 keys. If all of the newer cosmetics are easy to get, it takes away a lot of value they have in general.

And allowing people to skill for the cosmetics hurts the value, so while they may have allowed it last time, excluding the skilling option this time let's them see how sales could go for future cosmetic promotions where you can't skill for the set. It can't be tradeable either because the price drop after a few days makes it extremely accessible for everyone.

In short, if you're someone who wants Treasure Hunter to be mostly cosmetic, expect the currency to be more rare without the option to skill for it (to preserve the value of cosmetics in general).

Pretty disappointed with this promo. When I received the free 600 ghostweave yesterday I had been hopeful this would be a daily thing as then I had a chance of getting one of the more expensive costumes, but apparently that was a one-off. It's a let down that there are 16 outfits but for more people who can't afford to buy keys (& don't have the luck to justify it either) we'll only be able to get one of the cheap ones, meaning we miss out on the titles & emotes if we didn't do the event in 2014. I don't like to complain because I understand that it's "just cosmetics" and it isn't a big deal if you don't get all the outfits, but even the fact that some outfits are over 1,000 ghostweave & you can only get up to 300 on TH per key is sort of rubbish (I got 20 on the first day which I'm sure will get me far in the promo, lol).

Anything where you're needing "currency" of some kind (like ghostweave, solar flare etc), you should be able to earn it via skilling. If you want to create TH-only promos for cosmetics then at least offer full pieces (like Hearts of Fire armor). Having the titles/emotes for reaching a certain amount of outfits created too makes this yet again feel like a p2w event instead of just a fun, seasonal addition to the game.

Well with around 75 keys (with hearts of ice) you can expect to get at least 1k ghostweave. While I personally don't care if they were available through skilling or not, I think the community reception is interesting.

What exactly do you based your estimations on? I've done 20 keys; 3 wins of ghostweave (50 + 20 + 20) for 90 total weave. If I extend that out 4 times, I might get 12 wins out of 80 keys for 360 weave, far short of your 1000 estimation for 75 keys.

Cosmetic outfits like these should have a flat cost attached to them in Solomon's Store. I' think many more would buy the runecoins outright for the purchase rather than estimating how many keys they need, then falling short and having to spend even more to complete the ones they want.

Edit: offering them through Solomon would allow ironmen to also dress up for Hallowe'en.

I'm basing it off the amount I got from using sets of 75 keys with hearts of ice. 77 Keys on one of my alts got me 1070 ghost weave.

Edit: Forgot you get 600 free. So 400ish from 75 keys, sorry.

Imagine them trying to put an ideal price on the ghostweave outfits too. I couldn't imagine it working in the SGS store when you can get way more for the cosmetics. If people really want TH to be more cosmetic related, you have to keep the sets valuable - otherwise it'll be seen as just another cosmetic set injected into the game without little value.

thanks for the q&a I honestly swore this event was discontinued because I remember spending a lot of irl gp to unlock all the outfits when it first came out as I love discontinued items. the last promo I spent serious irl gp on is invisible thief outfit and while I was a lil mad I really love the invisible outfits but Jagex answers were far below what I held this company to and i was gonna buy all the outfits this friday but to hear how much keys needed to be spent and the amount u get from th is so low that id literally be throwing money out the door and we cant have that anymore.

btw even if I can be wrong about ghostweaves being discontinued yelps was resold 4 times or so before you officially discontinued it or so it seems as you claim.
