The difference is, even though they are the bigger faction, the Zamorakians won't protect you. They'll sacrifice the biggest weakling and they don't care if you try to appeal to faction. Tradition is more important to them. The Zarosians are more likely to look out for each other and Akthanakos capitalized on this:

Wahisietel: Ha! You two are lucky to have lived this long. We endure because we are strong. The four of us together could destroy you in the blink of an eye.

Sliske: Perhaps it IS time for one of these to meet their end...

Akthanakos: Yes, we stand together.
Runescape doesn't need a hero...it needs a villain. An all encompassing force of evil that will remain ever-threatening and use chaos to make the peoples of Gielinor tolerate each other, grow strong together, and fight side by side against this evil. I am that villain.

And yet they were completely fine with sacrificing Jhallan, a Zarosian. He was a dick, but Zarosian none-the-less.

And on the Zamorakian side, Zemouregal wanted to sacrifice Azzanadra despite his status. "A powerful adversary and Zaros's champion. Has been contained since the early God Wars. We have not dared free him for the Ritual yet. We should do so soon, while numbers of the Zamorakian faction are still high enough to handle him."

Only Sliske was fine with it. The others wanted to sacrifice Lucien.
You never were our brightest star, Khazard. 'Vermin slaughtered like lambs'? What does that even mean?

Sliske was fine with sacrificing Jhallen, but everyone else wasn't. They were simply too defenseless to do anything about it.

As for Azzanadra, he is, in many ways, considered to be weak. Not because he doesn't have power, but because he's gotten soft and allowed himself to stagnate.

He was also in a pretty pathetic situation, though.
Patrolling Lore FC almost makes you wish for a Great Revision.

Honestly, I don't have an argument for either side, just hope.

I
hope
that *maybe* they'll be in the quest at some point, they just weren't outside the Heart (I know Mod Raven said that they're not in it at all but maybe he's just messing with us [HOPE]).

I
hope
that Zaros has given them some task to complete while this is going on, and it will be explained during or post-quest in dialogue.

I
hope
that Zaros doesn't mess this up, because, honestly, if Wahisietel is going to betray him, Imma side with Wahisietel, and Azzanadra will once again be disappointed.

I'd stick with Zaros, but I wouldn't really blame Wahisietel or Akthanakos if they betrayed him. I thought it was weird that Azzanadra didn't tell either of them about Zaros returning; if he showed them a bit more respect this wouldn't be an issue. Prepare for hell on RuneScape in Naval Cataclysm!

jhallan wasn't much of a zarosian at that point anymore, and more importantly he was at that point a disgrace to the Mahjarrat way of life (by skipping rituals and trying to be rejuvenated without risking his life), and the zarosian mahjarrat wouldnt have any respect for him

read the transcript and that's very much accurate
lucien pulls jhallan up, sliske says he's fine with it (technically he says 'we', but he obviously doesnt speak for all the zarosians) and then enakhra still wants it to be akthanakos* and then wahi says it has to be lucien and then azzanadra and wahi both attack lucien

*and akthanakos presumably still wants it to be enakhra... for show, ofcourse, since they're both in love with each other

so no, I'm wrong, only sliske was fine with it. I don't know if the zarosians would have defended jhallan in a normal ritual (but they'd probably try to get a zamorakian out of the way if they could) and I think they're pretty much disappointed with him
