Well yeah as a villain he was basically once a Tier 3 'god' in the third age before he put his power in a pendant, making him stronger than all of Saradomin, Armadyl and Zamorak at the time technically.
That possibly explaining his ability to prolong the god wars as the lore says, however Bandos used those 'Tier 3 high god' powers.
After his banishment Bandos became Tier 4. He is somebody who played such a huge part in the 'god wars' being a 'Tier 3 big high war god', not saying I like him at all but to die so instantly or quickly in the 6th age just like that its honestly not really fitting.
Its like we've lost a major chunk of lore.
I mean in the plotline Bandos could be against the 'elder gods' devouring Gielinor and want to fight them because they want to ruin his prospects for 'everlasting war'.
Btw so finally I have an idea, it seems the only way Bandos could be made to turn out to 'be still alive' is that a small piece of him survived through Zanik that was released on Yu'Bisk, but Bandos is now like the weakest 'god' even lower than Icthlarin.
Having lost 90-99% of his 'power', and it turns out Bandos has been stranded on Yu'Bisk all this time since the events of endgame. Too powerless to return or do anything.
Bandos now needs to 'prove himself' to his followers from all the way ground up having lost all his power, could make for an interesting questline or plot. Its even possible some aspects of Bandos's personality have changed or he's 'learnt some things from his time inside Zanik' and experience being 'powerless'. Becoming the very thing he once hated or claimed to hate.
The only path to being alive seems to be 'Bandos survived through his final piece and has been stranded on an unknown part of Yu'Bisk ever since'.
