I don't doubt that they can be discussed civilly, but I think its a fine line and a lot of times the people discussing in chat aren't looking for a civil discussion. They tend to start with insults and get worse from there. So, while there may not be an outright ban on them, I think it might be neccessary to moderate them a bit more harshly because they are much more inflammatory and divisive.

Although, to clarify, the first response should be to ask someone to tone it down or change the subject. Most situations don't need a kick or anything severe.

I don't think discussions on religion/politics should occur within this fc. It's more likely to result into negative actions/arguments. In addition, it's not as if the topic belongs to the chat. We can have plenty of discussions about other topics, including the game and other games.

If there had to be a line drawn, I'd simply state either, brief general news/updates of topics, but no deep rooted discussions.

Eh, I think it should be okay- but if one person complains that its detracting from the fc, the generals can call for it to stop.

That way if a discussion is going on that nobody is bothered by, the general doesn't have to feel like a jerk for having to stop it. "We call it being a hero"

As for rules, I think we're doing pretty fine now. No need to ban topics completely, as people can be mature enough to discuss them without fighting about them. But also try to respect other people, if they don't want to talk about something. And try to keep private fights on private messages. I'm pretty cool

I've never understood why people complain about being spoiled about a quest in a lore fc. Either they haven't thought it through, or they incorrectly guessed we have a no-spoilers rule (which is never said/hinted anywhere, so the risk is on them). I'm too Unaligned to have a forum signature.

Never understood that mentality....what's the point of having a lore chat (FC or CC) if you don't allow spoilers during quest release? It's like "Hey, let's only allow lore discussion when everyone's done discussing it and there's nothing to discuss anymore." Asinine. Runescape doesn't need a hero...it needs a villain. An all encompassing force of evil that will remain ever-threatening and use chaos to make the peoples of Gielinor tolerate each other, grow strong together, and fight side by side against this evil. I am that villain.
