I honestly have a method I wanna just spit ball here for selecting generals. Its kind of crazy but I don't know for the lore community I think it could work.

Each member of the lore FC states the order of wizard they were placed in the quest rune memories. (blue, red, green, grey)

This will act as their representative voting body.

Those that are in the blue order vote for two in the red order to be a general. and vice versa.

The same goes with the green and grey. those in the green order vote for two generals from the grey order and then vice versa.

This system is really nerdy I get it but the thing is we have kind of established that biases exist and people don't always trust each other. But with this system it basically forces people that in lore stances often disagree into voting for someone on the opposing side they feel is the most respectable. In my eyes that will give us the best candidates for generals because then it will be people that hold respect from most groups in the FC.

I'm not going to go into ultra defense mode on this but just as a general I want to provide a solution that may make people happy.

(it also means voting in our chat has a prereq and that is rune memories which is kind of cool)

The problem I see with this is that people can change orders, and there is no way to verify what their original order was.

Something like this could work...but we'd need a better way to validate things.

Raxxes I don't think faction should have anything to do with the Generals. What fictional god you've chosen to follow should be irrelevant when moderating a chat. If all of them are sliskean so be it. Sure, some people are clearly biased, but then they aren't fit to be generals in the first place. -
I have noticed your kind does tend to blindly stumble forward towards danger simply because it exists. What is your word for that?

I'm neutral for the time being btw. I'll edit this post if I chose one of the options -

Okay since the current system is a mess, I'll take matters into my own hands until you people vote on something.

Well, the vote seems to be 3 options right now:

1. Go back to having no Gens at all.

2. Elect new gens.

3. Keep the generals with no elections at all.

But what do you mean by taking matters into your own hands?

I won't lie....elections are a mess. But I've stood by them for several reasons:

1) It is a general's job to moderate, not act as overlords. To keep that from happening, there needs to be something that keeps generals in line. Something discreet.

2) I want all members of the FC, general and non-generals, to feel like they have a say in what's going on.

3) If a general just isn't doing a good job and needs to be removed, I prefer a discreet way of doing it. Trying to impeach a general would be horribly over dramatic. It would like trying to ban someone and I think we can all agree that is a hellish process to go through, regardless of the outcome. Elections are a more subtle way to move out inactive or inefficient generals.

With that said, before we fully decide on a system, we need to figure out what we want generals for. Do we want them to act as stricter mods that kick people out for inappropriate or overly heated discussion? Or do we want to preserve generals solely for emergency situations, such as troll spammers?

If it's the former, then we need a select group of generals picked with some form of consent from the FC and easy to dismiss without drama. If it's the latter, then I personally think everyone should be a general. And, of course, plenty of people don't want generals at all.
Runescape doesn't need a hero...it needs a villain. An all encompassing force of evil that will remain ever-threatening and use chaos to make the peoples of Gielinor tolerate each other, grow strong together, and fight side by side against this evil. I am that villain.

I vote for the Dethalocracy, whatever option that may be...this "vote" is such a mess...I don't even know what I'm supposed to be voting on...

This is what happens when arbitrary votes are made based off arbitrary issues.
