¤
The Red Axe
was the largest company of the Mining Consortium and one of the oldest ones on Keldagrim. They had always been a successful business, until the last director, the elderly Hreidmar, discovered that he was the rightful heir to the throne of Keldagrim in the Fifth Age. From that point onward, he began planning to take over the city and claim his birthright using an army of chaos dwarves. He allied with the dark gnomes of Arposandra, who provided him with equipment and a loyal ogre shaman to achieve these goals. In 5.169, his plan to destroy the statue of King Alvis in the River Kelda and put his own head there instead failed when an adventurer who had been involved in the affair chose a different director's head. The Red Axe then left the Consortium, to be replaced by the Orange Flame. Hreidmar and his huge company, counting thousands of employees, retreated to his secret base in the abandoned mines around the city, where he continued with his plans. The Red Axe began kidnapping citizens from East Keldagrim to convert them into chaos dwarves and had the ogre shaman, Grunsh, erase the memories of anyone who discovered their actions.

A network of spies was established in the city as well. After the Battle of Barendir, the Red Axe recruited Colonel Grimsson as the director's right hand. Hreidmar also began to experiment with other chaos creatures, creating chaos dwogres and fearsome but out-of-control chaos giants. A chaos army, now supplied with dangerous hand cannons, attacked the Keldagrim south-west mines, but was dealt with by Colonel Grenda's First Regiment. Later, Hreidmar had the Lava-flow Mine destroyed and planned to use the resulting protests to become King of Keldagrim by forcing the Consortium to open the Records Chamber to find out the heir. However, the Monarchist Society tampered with the records and ex-Commander Veldaban became King instead. The chaos army which Hreidmar had prepared at Barendir to invade the city had been defeated by the Barendir trolls, after which he quickly fled. At that point, he gave up on his plans to become king, realising he would only have two years on the throne. Hreidmar severed ties with his spies and with Arposandra and instead had his own palace built using his own lava-flow mine, its consortium consisting entirely of chaos dwarves, which he could rule. The members of his company began to object, to which he turned them into chaos dwarves. However, King Veldaban grew paranoid of another attack of the Red Axe, had their spies tracked down and dealt with and launched an assault on Hreidmar's city with the joint dwarf and troll armies, defeating Hreidmar and the Red Axe once and for all. Apart from Hreidmar, Grimsson and Grunsh, known Red Axe members were Grundt and Brendt (traders on Jatizso and spies for the company), Vigr (a warhammer merchant in Keldagrim and a spy) and Medwin, Baden, Obert and Glosur (four engineers who left the Red Axe and joined the KGP instead). 5.3) Research organisations
¤
Organisations that are conducting research or educating are listed here.

* The
Blue Order
was one of the four orders of the first Wizards' Tower. The blue wizards were followers of Saradomin and created many of the non-combat spells of the Standard Spellbook. It was their leaving in the middle of the ritual that would create a teleportation beam due to the demonic magic used in it in 5.70 that ultimately led to the destruction of the tower. Perien, the last blue apprentice, was one of the two survivors and founded the new Wizards' Tower as its first archmage, banning Zamorakians from it, whom he blamed for the incident. Known blue wizards are Perien and Unaia, and arguably the former's successors in the tower.

¤ The
Chamber of Invention
is a special research facility in the Wizards' Tower. Amongst other things, it is responsible for patenting new inventions and magical gadgets. The RP*DT} was supposed to send a teleport block-creating trinket to the chamber.

¤ The
Dagon'hai
are a Zamorakian organisation of wizards based in the Chaos Tunnels and the Tunnel of Chaos. Until the sacking of the first Wizards' Tower, the Dagon'hai were a relatively secret organisation that had formed when Zamorakian magi had begun appearing, the order soon moving to Varrock. The Dagon'hai's practices in Varrock were frowned upon by the Church of Saradomin, who began tracking down, torturing and incarcerating its members, which led to a hidden war between the two factions. It was not until the tower's destruction that the Varrock Guard responded to this, decimating the Dagon'hai. The Zamorakians, in turn, hid themselves better inside Varrock, planning their vengeance, until a young guard discovered them in the middle of a sacrificial ritual and alerted the Guard, after which the Dagon'hai fled the city. Thanks to the efforts of the High Elders Dag'eth, Kree'nag and La'nou, those of the order than had not been killed in the ensuing chase managed to retreat to the Chaos Tunnel with Hyerap(*) Sin'(keth) Magis (whose son Surok would later succeed him) as their new leader. The Dagon'hai remains there today, practising magic in the Chaos Tunnels. In 5.169, Surok attempted to take over Misthalin by making the king his sockpuppet but this plan was thwarted. Known Dagon'hai members are Mishkal'un Dorn, Sil'as Dahcsnu and Dakh'thoulan Aegis.

¤ The
Exploratory Division
is a specialised group of Dorgeshuun goblins, consisting of researchers and cartographers, overseen by the council. It carries out research in the caves around Dorgesh-Kaan, exploring and mapping it.

¤ The
Green Order
was one of the four orders of the first Wizards' Tower. The green wizards were followers of Guthix and were experts on runecrafting and rune theory. The order's founder had been the wizard to discover the rune essence mine in 4.2000. Known green wizards are Azris, Er(i)tona and Sland.

are a society within the Wizards' Guild that studies magic from old tomes. One known member was Clarence, Zavi9s)tic Rarve's apprentice who had just left the Wizards' Tower.

¤ The
Red Order
was one of the four orders of the first Wizards' Tower. The red wizards were followers of Zamorak and created many of the elemental combat spells of the Standard Spellbook. It had also been one of theirs - Kelavan the Red - who accidentally discovered how to create new teleportation spells in 5.70. Kelavan was also one of the two survivors of the tower's sacking that had been an indirect consequence of this discovery, and founded the Sacred Order of the Staff of Fire when Archmage Perien declared that Zamorakians were not to practise magic or runecrafting anymore. Known red wizards are Ellaron, Kelavan and Zanmaron.

¤ The
Zamorakian Magical Institute (ZMI)
, often called Zoological Magical Institute by its members to prevent suspicion, is a Zamorakian organisation who are trying to gain access to the rune essence mine, the teleportation spell to which is only known to certain non-Zamorakian individuals. They have gained access to the Abyss as part of Operation: Transient, where they are conducting research. Additionally, they have taken over the Ourania Altar and are crafting runes there with the limited essence they have managed to obtain. The Temple Knights blame many crimes on the ZMI, including "Operation: Phoenix", which they believe to have been the ZMI's destruction of the Wizards' Tower in 5.70. Finally, a ZMI member named Tam McGrubor is giving out hoods that are part of an outfit in stock in the Wizards' Tower for free.
