Will be cool if the finale will be assault on Misthalin. Saradominist priests assemble to bring back the barrier and the vyres have developed awesome war machine from extracting Daeyalt ore. Since the Gods are here, things are getting more complicated unless they vyres can develop anti-god magic machine/weps/armors. That will be cool. Its just my wild imagination.

Yes and maybe the Vampyres will find a way to cross the salve. Maybe Zamorak will help with this by allying with the Vampyres once again. Zaros could also try to ally with them maybe out of a mutual interest, or maybe that rock could be their key to crossing the Salve, who knows?

I'm a bit apprehensive since Ana's not developing it. I'd like to understand better - does she not want to do quests? Does she prefer content fixes and small quality of life updates to trying to execute her sweeping vision? With Mod John A gone, I feel like Ana is pretty undisputedly the best storyteller at Jagex, and it would be bizarre if Pips/Mark/IVP/whomever is blocking her from this project.

It's also worth noting that the last Myreque quest came out during a 'golden age' of questing. Branches, RotM, and One Piercing Note all came out one after the other, and for a while Jagex seemed to focus on questing as the player's primary means of experiencing the game world, with huge area reworks, a whole slough of voiced quests in 2012, a lot of refinement of the story in the early game...

Priorities obviously changed at some point. Blame it on microtransactions, blame it on RS3, blame it on MMG, whatever. For some reason the whole philosophy of quest production changed, and perhaps, in this new working climate, Ana would rather pass on the reins to someone else than work at her vision and be frustrated.

Either way, I can't help but view this upcoming quest with some pessimism, which is a shame because the Myreque quests under Tytn and Ana have consistently been some of the best written, well-produced, most atmospheric quests in game, which I fear, with current budgeting and a developer with a different vision, any future quests won't live up to.

It'll still be Ana's quest. It's her design and her story and she'll be constantly stalking the developer (probably Srowl*y), even writing some dialogue of her own if time permits. I also don't get why she can't just leave the ninja team for a few months, but Jagex probably have reasons for it. So it's not all that bad.
Bizarre Boron Fusswell, scryer extraordinaire. OSRS: POH ideas & RS3 minigames & achievement ideas !

Perhaps you're half right; perhaps we can't win. But we can fight.

Isn't the quest a 5th Age Quest too? (thus canonically occurs before The World Wakes)

The splinter group really isn't too hard to deal with:
- insert an imprisoned NPC with a few chat lines of dialogue
- a small hideout somewhere we visit with a couple of skeletons/corpses
- a note or journal

Basically:
- they tried to come up with plans, but nothing was feasible despite the groups "impressive array of powers, resources, and cunning"
- if you don't want to skip ahead to TWW, the groups internal divisions took over and both sides turned on each other, killing each other to the man. The last survivor laments that while he failed in bringing back his lord, he did at least get rid of [faction] [insult]
- if this note applies AFTER TWW, then both sides celebrate someone doing the job for them, or how they had secretly manipulated the adventurer behind the scenes every step of the way into enacting their plans, then ofc the group either disbands, everyone chokes to death on a batch of bad alcohol during celebrations, or again they all kill each other just because they realize that they are now at war again now that their mutual goal has ended.
