BLACK KNIGHT FORTRESS 2: OWEN US A FAVOR

WG: So, Saradomin, they're after some sort of ancient artifact of yours, right?
Saradomin: Yep!
WG: Could you teleport us to it?
Saradomin: Sure!

1/2 of the quest skipped.

ROMEO, ROMEO, WHEREFORE ART THOU ROMEO?

WG: Here's 1000 clay tablets of NPC Contact. Now stop making me run around like an errand boy!

ENLIGHTENED JOURNEY: I CAN SHOW YOU THE WORLD

WG: You do realize we have lodestones, right? No one's going to use this.
Balloon owner: But hot air balloons are cool....
WG: You'd be better off selling those tiny paper ones as toys, players love silly items like that.
Balloon owner: Are you sure?
WG: I've already bought your entire stock. I'll be back tomorrow after reset.

LOVE STORY: A TALE OF TWO STAR CROSSED LOVERS AND A BLUE HAT

* pickpocket *
WG: Haha, finally! *equips blue partyhat* Later!

A BIT MORE THAN ONE SMALL FAVOR

* buys red mahogany logs off the GE *

WATERFALL QUEST

* teleports into the Waterfall dungeon with the dungeoneering skillcape and telegrabs the floating goblet *

TRESSPASSING UPON THE WITCH'S HOUSE!

* takes a crystal hatchet to the back of the shed and grabs the ball through the hole *

THE WORLD WAKES

WG: Oh no it doesn't! * takes a spade out and fills back in the hole, planting some mithril seeds from the legends guild on top * There, good as new!
Headcanon Haven, where everything is made up and the points don't matter.
OSRS Lore: Xeric

^The problem is, most of those quests were geared toward lower levels and thus we didn't have all that high-level equipment at the time. Still a nice read though :P
To those cursed by war and pest, Come into the light of Armadyl and rest. This is the law of Armadyl.

Ok.... I know there's a disclaimer... but the Gower Quest is really confusing me. So, is Romeo and Juliet Canon in RS3?

No. Or at least for the most part 'no'.
Romeo and Juliet was scrapped ages ago with the release of Gunnar's Ground. The characters effectively removed from game.

The characters were used for a bit of nostalgia and humor in the Gower Quest and Dimension of Disaster.

The Gower Quest uses so much 4th Wall Breaking that the canonicalness of the quest itself is in question and it even pokes fun at the very fact (that you're told about the Rat Pits, that after an update, you no longer remember them, yet at the same time you know they existed even though the player character might not have even started playing at the time.)
I think as Mod Moltare (a rather twisted mind, still a tad short of Mod Raven) stated that the canonicty of the Gower Quest is however they feel like treating it.

tl;dr - if the above comment made no sense to you, that explains the logic behind the quest and how canonical it is. If it did make sense, then you already understood the answer before you asked the question. And if your head hurts or your brain is oozing out of your ear, that counts as the exact same answer.

In-game the quest log even says something like "this quest is canon except when it isn't".

I have noticed your kind does tend to blindly stumble forward towards danger simply because it exists. What is your word for that?
- We call it being a hero.

After you chose to steal the Staff of Armadyl during Temple of Ikov, why not keep the darn thing for yourself?

You were no world guardian at that time, and you could guess it's an important powerful artefact if a shady hooded guy was after it.

Imagine how things could have been...?

Lucien (or Morvario) would then come and break into your PoH and beat the ever living snott out of you and steal it.
Or they'd use some cheap spell to pose as you and steal it from your bank. Or do some elaborate ploy to rob the bank.

Remember that even by the time Lucien had the Staff, he had a full network of thugs, agents, working with elements of the Dark Warriors and Kinshra, and had zombie hordes at his side.

It wouldn't have taken Lucien long to figure out the Player Char did something with it and opt to come back at you with a vengence.
And it's not like the Player Char would fare well against even a pre-ritual Mahjarrat who comes with backup and they are very, very, very motivated to find out what happened to the Staff.

Recipe for Disaster

Chef wants to make a desert using a rotten tomato and ashes? Yeah, chef ... how about a better idea: that cake we made before, how about a giant
chocolate
caek!?!?!?

No? Fine. Give me the guest list, I'll traverse all over the planet finding out their favorite desserts and we'll serve that !!!
(player still unlocks everything, you just don't have to deal with the Culimancer)

That depends on how strong the player is at that point in the story. Temple of Ikov is 'Experienced' levelled. So perhaps you are right.

But even if Lucien unleashed all of his forces upon you while you are say level 60, you are still in possesion of the f'ing Staff of Armadyl ! We have all seen what that thing can do. It is not only an incredibly mighty weapon, it also increases strength of the wielder as these items tend to do. Look at what it did with Lucien within a year.

Sometimes I wish the player wasn't to stupid and actually kept the thing.
