Oh man, here's something I just remembered, and it's absolutely relevant to this thread.

A flame cannot become a star, but
Seren is Welsh for "star".

Perhaps that wording will come to be very meaningful down the line...!

very true, let's also not forget in CoM someone translated some latin...i mean infernal...into "it is hidden among the stars"

also, on the "gender" if anyone reads greek myths you will know Gaia (aka mother earth) is the creator of life and the "lesser gods (Titens)" ...then came Zeus and fam. (well more to it but i could rant on 4ever about it) Plus when you think of life givers, in nature at least, tends to be the female (unless you are a seahorse!)

I'd personally dislike this, seeing as how I'm a hardcore supporter of Zaros, though it makes sense. I'd like to think that Jagex isn't quite done with Zaros though, given that they've been leading up to his return for years now.

You have to let go of who you love. I'm certain there are souls just like you out there who lost their god like Guthix, Bandos... Don't gulp this point pâté in one go, danger of choke!
There are Saradominists who had been shat on ever since TWW and DoC, and they're staunch enough to continue believing in Saradomin. We who follow the Empty Lord have faith as well.

Well, if you're bringing in Greek mythology here, don't forget that there's no shortage of unusual/"seahorsey" (sea-hornless-unicorney?) births there as well. Athena having popped out of Zeus's head, most prominently.

Regardless, though I do reckon looking at this thematically with gender stuff in mind could be interesting, I honestly don't think it'd be much of a deciding factor in-universe. There are other reasons for Zaros to not be seen as a potential successor to Mah -- the fact that he ran away from her as soon as he could, for one...!

Maybe it is related to Seren and all of about ten zarosians will siege prif.

I'd be pretty scared for prif even if it's just the main 6 Zarosian characters. Not that sieging Prif will ever happen.

The part about there being only ten zarosians was a joke. A very true joke.

I wasn't denying that in any way. Just remarking that the Zarosian characters are, in general, some of the strongest NPCs.

Your example is of course quite poor. Why should Zaros of tolerated Mah's childish destructive outbursts? He could hardly subdue her at the time, so the most logical choice would be to leave. Something even Seren followed through with eventually ;)

Hey, man, I ain't passing judgement on Zaros' actions here -- he had every right to get outta there, after all, and I reckon it's the right choice to have made. Just saying, Seren's the one who remained with Mah, maintained that connection; Zaros was the exact opposite. I'm betting that Seren's going to be chosen by the EGs to replace Mah in some respect -- hell, she's already had practice doing so, impersonating her to teach the Mahjarrat their rituals. That impersonation would be one hell of a piece of foreshadowing, wouldn't it?

(not too familiar with this particular region of lore, though -- correct me on anything and everything when I inevitably turn out to be wrong as all hell, and excuse me while I grind levels for those quest reqs..!)
