Here's my theory:
Drakan uses a mechanical bone- marrow- like device for a constant supply of blood. This, obviously, is something most Vampyres think is appalling. The Vampyres turn on and kill Drakan when they discover this. The device is powered by a Dayalt battery.

Where would that leave Vanescula, though? She's trying to subvert Vampyre society and overthrow Drakan by finding a blood substitute. If Drakan were the one to find a blood substitute, he'd be the good guy (who instantly gets killed by the Vampyric hordes) and Vanescula would fail utterly. I think a feeble attempt at revolution is way too small for the series - the revolution would at least have to get going. Of course, there must be some deceit on Vanescula's part... I just wonder what it will be.

Vanescula= wants to take over from Lowernial, approves of usage of Blood substitute, commited fratracide
Lowernial= been working on private project for years, something to do with a rock, closed down labratories under Meryditch due to substitute for Blood found*
Vanstrom (deceased)= Seemed to be 4rth in comand of Vampyres, main Vampyre in charge of Meryques extermination, considered by resident's of Meryditch to be the "worst" Vampyre, killed by player at the end of "Branches of Darkmeyer"
Ranis (deceased)= Brother of Vanesula and Lowernial, seemingly not as powerful as either, killed by Vanescula during "Branches of Darkmeyer"
*possible that since Lowernial is so obsessed with this "rock," he gave control of day-to-day activaties to Vanstrom, and HE was the one who closed down the Labratories?
Alternate Blood Source= the Blood Altar? If you enter it, you can see a giant pool of blood surrounding it...maybe the altar actually produces blood, enough so that the Vampyres wouldn't need humans anymore?

Has anyone else seen the BTS video on Al-Kharid? I have to say that I'm impressed with what they'll be doing with the town, but as player from the RS1 era I have to say that it's another one of those updates which cuts another one of my childhood ties to the game. Am I alone in feeling that way?
I have to ask because I'm wondering about how Morytania and the Myreque series will change over time. Do you think that Jagex will push too much change east of the salve and ruin the atmosphere of the whole thing?
