There may still be some link between the two. Mod Ana said that she wanted to explore Vanstrom's past as well as use Ivan to a greater extent in the next quests.
Put two and two together.

Thanks for putting up the new thread, AMH. I like the intro :)

Profiled.
This is certainly the best thread I've posted on so far in terms of layout though I never did see the very first version of this thread.
I will probably post sometime this week my predictions and hopes for the series as a rather large post and see if anyone wants to discuss any of those.
You may want to add a few characters such as unnamed characters (Conspirators etc) and you don't have Calsidiu or do you?
Otherwise stick to the shadows my friends. The deeper we get into Hallowvale the more likely it is the Vampyres discover us.

Hatter theres a typo on the second post under the "Status Quo" section, its "Icyene" not "Iceyene" :)
perhaps Ivan was somehow involved with Vanstrom getting his extra powers, since the Vyres appear to know him.
oh and I forgot, Myreque Prevail!

Okay this was gonna be in my longer post but since it's being discussed atm. Either I think Ivan is Vanstrom's son and therefore that is how he is special or he is descended from Ivandis and is special because of that, after all he is a priest right?, or both.
This would also give us more on Ivandis who is a massive character and Vanstrom's past possibly.

Wow, this was a really good read! I am particularly interested in what the future might hold regarding Lord Drakan himself, seeing as he has actually had very little part in the series thus far and, now that Vanstrom is dead, he is the main antagonist of the series...

I cannot believe I missed this before, after spending hours and hours poring over lores trying to piece together the Morytanian timeline.
The Sleeping Seven depicts specifically the history of Morytania in the 4th Age, and the book includes the fall of Queen Efarity and the conquest of the Hallowlands before the Seven blessed the Salve to protect Misthalin. "Eight hundred years and score" places the fall of Hallowvale at Year 820 4th Age precisely, and the blessing of the Salve shortly after. I would assume that the Hallowlands were won from the vyres at the end of the God Wars, meaning that the tome in the Burgh De Rott tunnel was likely written at this time too.
Have I just been completely derp and restated something we had already figured out?

Speaking of that bloody tome, we still don't know about that vampyric door of what's behind it. Hopefully the next quest will connect to it, or we'll never find out in another year or two.

Ok here's the post I promised.
Hopes for the next quest ~ An explaination of how Werewolves cross the salve I feel that has went on long enough. Why Ivan Strom is special. Somebody dying cause things seem to be going too well. The Myreque beginning to leave the base and do stuff on their own during the quest. That we give orders to some Myreque we must outrank some of them.
Hopes for the series and the general area and characters ~ All the Myreque gain weaponary that would work against vampyres some such as Velief don't even have weapons atm. Dual weilding sickles for us. The mercenaries sent from Varrock start tackling some of the lesser vampyres.
Predictions ~ As I've said Ivan may be Vanstrom's son and a decendent of Ivandis. There may be some biblical context as Drakan may be a fallen Icyene and it is a Saradominist quest line in a sense. An invasion of Varrock to some extent else the crossing of the salve means nothing important tbh. Vanescula is too weak to take on Drakan herself and so requires the help of a half Icyene.
If I come up with anything else I'll add it.

I really like that idea. On the last thread, I put forward the idea that Drakan may have become a vampyre in order to gain enough power to secure his final conquest of Morytania. Your idea is better, me thinks.
