Pharoah Queen

--- ^+^ ---

PQ:That vile creature Zaros and his minions. Ever plotting in the dark lands of Morytania. During my reign, we defeated him temporarily with the aid of the Stern Judges. Icthlarin be praised for his strength and wisdom.

Me:I thought that Zamorak was always the root of evil?

PQ:I have never heard of this Zamorak you speak of, I assume he is a newcomer to this world.

Me:Well he's an immortal deity, I guess you'll find out about him soon enough. What was that about the Stern Judges?

PQ:The Stern Judges, the faceless ones, are Icthlarin's workers in the land of the living. They see all, weild great power and are reborn through death. What more fitting servants could he have?

Me:What was that about rebirth through death, and why are they called faceless ones?

PQ:The Judges have a central mystery in that one of their number must die in order to give life to others. You can see how this appealed to Icthlarin.
They can also take any form they choose, any face that is of use. The power to rule is much enhanced when one's advisors can speak with traitors using the face of another

Me:I don't doubt. Were these Judges minor deities, spirits, or something else? It all seems a bit strange that I haven't heard of them before.

PQ:Like many servants of the gods, and indeed like the newcomer gods worshipped by most in the North, the Stern Judges were not native to this world.
Icthlarin, in his wisdom, foresaw that he would need servants to do his bidding among mortals. He thus transported the faceless ones to these lands.

Me: So, where are they now?

PQ:I am still recovering my knowledge in some areas and must admit I do not know.
Perhaps they were no longer needed and returned to their own plane. Perhaps they were freed by Icthlarin from their vows of obedience.
It is a subject I will look into in due time

Meiyerditch Citizen

--- ^+^ ---
Me: What do you do here?

Citizen: Like everyone else we just survive here. Just try to keep alive until the next blood tithe - that's when they feed us

Me: I'm lost... Can you help me?

Citizen: Well, you're in sector six, but if you were hoping for any other help then I'm very sorry. I find it hard enough to help myself. Life's so very hard here. Before too long they'll be wanting to have another blood tithing and then I'll just feel awful again.

Me: What's a blood tithing?

Citizen: You must be new here, else you'd know for sure. It's where we have to give a blood tithe to the vampyres. They do it on a weekly basis, a different sector each week so they don't kill us all off.

Me: Do you know about the Myreque?

Citizen: It's probably best not to talk about that, friend.

Me: I need to make contact with them. Please don't worry - I'm on their side.

Citizen: As are we all, but I really can't talk about them. It's not a subject easily broached here.

Me: Can you tell me about the Sanguinesti region?

Citizen: Yep, that's were we are at the moment. This place, Meiyerditch, is just one large ghetto. The city is sectioned off so that the vampyres can collect blood tithes on a rotational basis. That way they don't kill us all off in one go.

Me: What do you know about the vampyres?

Citizen: They're monsters, I know that much. I've never known anything else, but I have a feeling it might be nice to not have to live in fear the whole time. Worrying if I'm going to make the next blood tithe quota. I know that the juveniles are the lowest form of the vampyres, most likely converted from some sort of bipedal creature, probably human. Juvinates are initiated juveniles who've had some training and are starting to get some special powers. After that you have the vyrewatch - they're nasty... really nasty.

Me: What do you know about Drakan?

Citizen: Drakan? Which one: Ranis or Vanescula?

Me: Well, I was referring to the main Drakan, you know, the overlord of Morytania.

Citizen: Hmm, nothing has been seen of him for many years now. Some people say they occasionally see Ranis or Vanescula flying about, but it's not too often.

Me: What is there to do around here?

Citizen: To do? Around here? Survive! Eke out an existence and just live for another day, that it really. The juvinates organize work crews to mine the daeyalt, fix the walls, the castles and so on. If we refuse to do the work they put us on double tithes and you can't do that for long g before you dry up.

Me: Is there anything I can do to help?

Citizen: It's very nice of you to offer, my friend, but I shouldn't expect that you could do anything. The vampyres are just too powerful to overcome. Anyone who has challenged their power in the past, like that poor Queen Effarity, came undone.

Option: Do you have any plans for what to do next?

V: Of course I do.

P: Anything I can help with?

V: Oh, yes. You can make yourself very useful to me.

P: Care to tell me how?

V: Of course not. Now be gone, you are wasting my time.

Option: Do you know where Safalaan is?

V: Oh, of course. I killed him.

P: What?

V: So gullible. Really; how did you survive this long here?

P: This isn’t a joke!

V: Well, excuse me for having a bit of fun.

Conversation with Veliaf (post BoD)

--- ^+^ ---
Topic: Vanstrom

Player: When he died, he seemed to 'explode'. It knocked me down. Is that normal for a Vyre?

Veliaf: I've never heard of that before.

P: Perhaps it was because he was so old.

V: Possibly, but I'm sure it would have been reported in the vast history of Morytania, if that was the case. I cannot imagine a Vampyre of Vanstrom's power would be without some history.

Topic: Safalaan

(Subtopic: Vanstrom believed that Safalaan is an Icyene.)

V: I had not heard of this, although I cannot deny we had our suspicions. He has always been...different.

V: I am ashamed to say that I even suspected him of being vampyric, on occasion.

(Subtopic:What does this mean for the myreque?)

V: I cannot say. We know so little of the Icyene, I am unable to speculate on what Safalaan may be capable of.

V: I would guess that he can only have Icyene blood. If he was entirely Icyene I would expect him to have more knowledge of his powers, but I can only offer my own opinion.

V: As for the Myreque, with him missing we must continue and hope that Vanstrom did not have the chance to share his discovery.

<continued from above>

(Subtopic: Do you know where Safalaan is?)

V: I am afraid I do not. He told no one where he was going. We are all worried for his safety.

(Subtopic: Any news from Meiyerditch?)

V: No, not yet. Drakan must be biding his time. It is not like the vampyres to take such a hit lightly.

V: We must keep pushing anyway. We cannot give the vampyres time to recuperate

Option: Can I ask you something about Vanstrom?

Ve: Go ahead

P: When he died, he exploded in a burst of energy that knocked me down and nearly took my life.

P: Is that normal for a powerful vampyre?

Ve: I can't say it’s something I’ve ever heard of. I’m afraid I can’t help you there.
Option: Can I ask you something about Safalaan?

Ve: What is it?

Option: What do you think about Vanstrom believing he is Icyene?

Ve: Well, I suppose it would explain a lot… and Safalaan was never clear about his past

V: Of course, this means that Safalaan is in even more danger than we thought, [player]. If the other vampyres know of this, they will be hunting for him relentlessly.

Us: Why?

Ve: I believe the Icyene came to Morytania centuries ago to fight the vampyres. If Safalaan has Icyene blood within him, his powers may be a great threat to them.

Option: Have you heard anything from him since he disappeared?

Ve: No, we have heard nothing. He did*’t say where he was going, just that he needed to do something. We must just trust he has a plan, and is keeping himself safe.

Option: Are you worried about the Myreque without Safalaan?

Ve: Safalaan is certainly a great leader to our branch of the Myreque. I cannot deny that I am concerned about our time without him, but he will return; I am sure of it.

V: In the meantime, we will continue our efforts. We cannot let our personal concerns affect the aid we are giving to the citizens here.

V: Who knows? Perhaps Calisidu will return to aid us during Safalaan** absence.

Option: What will the Myreque do now?

Ve: I feel we are going to have to lie low for a while*****: The deaths of Ranis and Vanstrom will have caused upheaval in the vampyre community. We will have to be vigilant and gather all the information we can about what he does in retaliation.

P: What about Vanescula?

Ve: Well, she has supported us so far; we must hope that she will use her power in Darkmeyer to move attention away from us.

(19)- "Dear blood sack,

My Lord Drakan is not inclined to reply personally to one of the cattle, but such slander cannot go unanswered, so I have been charged with defending our honour.

The difference you note between that of the vampires of the north and my own vampyre breed is a complex one, suffice it to say that vampires are feral beasts with little control over their powers. They are driven by their hunger and a kind of primal rage, unlike we vampyres. Vampyres are sophisticated and intelligent, and will rule this world. Lord Drakan, even now, gathers his powers to crush the pathetic mortals that stand against him. Your blood will drown the Salve; the shadows of Sanguinesti will blot out the sun.

Count Draynor was a sorry excuse for a vampyre, and was cast out for his cowardice. It is only right that he be slain by the cattle he aimed to rule, and his long absence from my Lord's presence is what weakened him so. Be assured, there is no weapon on this world that can harm a full vampyre. At the peak of our powers we can turn darkness to solid form, control the weak-willed and pull the blood from your body without touching you.

We are not all cruelty and hate, of course, and I have been asked to present you with this gift of a portrait of the Drakan family.

My Divine Lord's image is absent because his visage can never be truly captured.

Yours sanguinely,
Solomon Lamescus"

It should be noted that the pic presented in the postbag is confirmed to have a vampire's face in the moon if you look closely enough. Whether this is Lord Drakan or not remains to be seen

21)- "You don't sound much like a werewolf to me. Why would any werewolf want to rise up against the vampyres? They're great! Ever since I was a pup they've been around, keeping the humans out (except the ones they like to feed on) and us werewolves safe.

On top of that, after they have a drink they leave the meat and bones behind for us. It's a good life for the werewolves in Canifis! Sure, we have to give up a bit of blood in a tithe now and then when times are a bit lean for our blood sucking overlords, but that's much better than being hunted to extinction, isn't it?

My mammy told me once that werewolves used to live all over the place, but those humans don't like us much (not as much as we like them: mmm, delicious human) so they just started killing us. Now we have to live in Canifis, which is a bit damp but otherwise grand.

Hail the vampyres!
Roavar"

(22)- "Beer Baron,

Don't worry about the pie, mate. Post it to me; I'll keep it safe and sound. I've attached a self-addressed pie dish.

As for these blue-green rocks, mate - well, I haven't heard nowt about them, and we Imcando keep pretty meticulous records of every rock in RuneScape. This rock you got ain't natural. It'll have some magical hoobery-joobery on it, and I'm guessing those vampire types are after the hoobery-joobery. Don't take it from me, course. There's tall'uns with heads in books who'll give you an idea less raw than old Thurgo. I'm just giving you my two gold pieces' worth.

Well, I'll have to keep an eye out for this unnatural rock. The true test of a rock is in its taste, 'Birdie. The miner's mouth ain't let me down yet.

(30)- "Despite your comments regarding my age (I'm only 28, I'll have you know!), I shall do my best to answer your questions.

I have read a few short and terrifying stories from Morytania that use Charos as a character, but these are all fictional, and generally make him out to be some sort of cowering and simpering fool. The documents I have detailing his life tend to disagree with these depictions, favouring instead an image of a remarkable man of especially impressive charisma. This, of course, you know, so I shall move on to answer your questions.

It is entirely possible that Charos is still alive. He was in service to the vampyres' ruler, Lord Drakan, and though the histories indicate that Charos fell out of his master's favour, vampirism has a nasty habit of allowing unscrupulous individuals to keep living, or, rather, not living. Even if he was not 'blessed' by his lord in this way, there are some incredibly nasty tales that describe the vampyres employing certain scientists and sorcerers who are capable of keeping a mortal from dying, or raising them from the dead.

As to whether you may have to face him, I honestly cannot know (you might be better advised to ask some fortune teller - if you believe in such absurd mumbo-jumbo). If, however, he has been turned into a vampyre, he may well be a powerful foe, and very likely will want his ring back. After all, if someone came along and stole your favourite trinket, wouldn't you want to find out who had it to get it back?

Oh, and before I forget (and not due to my age or any presumed 'rotting' of my brain), I also uncovered this rather charming painting of Charos's castle, now called Castle Fenkenstrain, I believe.

Yours memorably,
Reldo"

(40)- "Pah, foolish bloodsack!

Worship Zamorak? We vampyres have no need of your gods; our home is godless and bloody, its inhabitants are mere cattle for our pleasure, and ours alone. The closest thing to a god that the vampyres know is Lord Drakan, Prince of the Blood and Regent of the Sanguine Fields. You would do well to know that Zamorak was an ally at best, and that the bargains we made with that upstart were to our benefit - without our support, he could never have achieved his great deeds.

In answer to your other questions: plans are in motion to bring you to us in chains, anaemic and scampering to do our will. Wars do not interest us, only conquest. Blood. Human blood tastes like enslaved cattle.

Immortality is the greatest of all gifts, for we recall days older than the Mahjarrat.

Yours bloodily,
Vanstrom Klause"
