I don't see the contradiction in dates, Poppy. Also, if you read the Paterdomus history books (it's your choice to discredit them, not the game's) and the tomb underneath Burgh de Rott together, it suggests a surprise attack by Drakan from underneath the castle itself. That's how the Icyene were finally defeated.

Maybe from the coffins near the blood altar, as has been suggested before.

This whole timeline thing is a mess. But I have something that might clear up at least Vertida's quote.

I've suggested this before long ago, but what if the 7 priestly warriors, or at least some of them WERE Icyene? Going to Morytania in the war would explain Vertida's quote. Also they appeared to be very strong against the vamps, and able to bless a river (which I assume must have taken quite some energy, either doing it theirselves or summoning Saradomin's power).

This whole debate confuses me way too much, so I'm not able to talk along :@ . If this is incorrect in any way, post ahead and let me know! :)

DoogleHallow, have you actually read the books?

Indeed I haven't, which is why I cannot consider anything from the book which has not been thoroughly explained and proven to be canonical by either a Mod or is directly responsible for ingame events.

I will make a point of reading them at some point.

Jagex have said both AOG and the Novels are canon.

AOG even gets a reference in the "Twice Burnt" lore, where Char plays the part of the Greater Demon Zebub, who plays a part in Armies of Gielinor "Saradomin Strikes" campaign as a Zamorakian commander.

At any rate, I agree Morytania's history is very confusing.
You never were our brightest star, Khazard. 'Vermin slaughtered like lambs'? What does that even mean?

^Funny thing is that Aog can still be non-canon even if Zebub is mentioned in game. There might have been a demon named Zebub in the history of RS, but that doesn't mean the stuff he did in AoG is true to the story.

However, I believe at least the novels to be canon. There might be some small things that slightly contradict the in-game story, but it's nothing too serious. Sedriror is described in the novels to have a brown beard (used to be true before the Wizzy tower update), but I now imagine him to have aged a little :P .

I have yet to figure out if AoG is canon. I mean, you can fight with gnomes, while those were actually hiding underground during the god wars.

The novels also state Vanstrom was human in the 5th Age, whereas he was known to have been involved with Safalaan well before then. Both the novels and AOG are full of contradictory canon which makes anything we draw from them impossible to prove until it is confirmed.
