Since it looks like this amazing thread will soon fall into the jaws of chewy, what with all the WE2 rage threads, I thought I may as well post Ana's quote from it here. It might be worth checking out, just to see the incredible theory.

Original message details are unavailable.
This was a great read :D !

I had written quite a few comments to make in reply, but I'm scared I'll give too much away, so I'll try and keep it relatively cryptic!

Firstly, I think it's reasonable to assume that the news of Ranis' death would spread without too much intervention. The Myreque need to know what's going on in Morytania, so I would imagine that they would find out something big like this by themselves. Or perhaps they did have help, who knows (except me, heh).

As for the tome, you're assuming that the blood on the book was 'applied' (either deliberately, or accidentally) when it was in the chamber beneath Burgh de Rott. Of course, it might have been in the chamber, but there's no reason to assume that was the case :) .

Regarding Ranis' death, and Vanescula framing the Myreque - I'd consider that Vanescula had two options. Firstly, she could tell the vampyres of Ranis' death and say 'it must have been a vampyre' or some other vague accusation. This isn't a strong story, and it may result in fingers being pointed at her - something she would like to avoid. On the other hand, she could say it was the Myreque and it would be believed without question. The Myreque are an obvious target and it's just the kind of thing those pesky humans would do. Sure, it could be harmful for the Myreque she's working with, but relatively does it really put them in any more danger than they already were? The vampyres would already kill them on sight, so what's the difference?

With regards to the other sections and ideas - I'm going to have to keep quiet so I don't reveal anything by accident ;) .

Also, is anyone else mystified that the Jagex heads (various Marks) thought it would be a good idea to have Mod Ana spend the last couple of weeks revamping the Slayer point store, instead of, you know, MAKING QUESTS?

I don't think it's terribly controversial to say that Mod Ana is the best storyteller currently at Jagex. They should be letting her use her talent for what she enjoys and is good at.

I can't believe I missed that thread. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

Rondstat, that is strange. Perhaps she is only working on those stats on a part-time basis while she prepares something else? At least I hope that's the case.

Content in Morytania? Somebody must have spiked Jagex' tea.

Ikr? Or maybe they're finally realizing 'hey, this area has good potential for stuff. Let's start using it'.

^And I couldn't even keep a straight face while saying that either :<

Wait, that's actually happening? The only thing I can think of that would explain that would be that Jagex just sees their developers as developers and not specialized types who are limited to working on only specific types of content. Which would make sense seeing how Ana worked on a minigame or something in the past if I remember correctly.

I can't believe I missed that thread. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

I second that.

Something I thought I should bring to people's attention, although it's not recent and isn't really that big.

I was listening to the 9th ATL podcast (one with Mod Mark). In the latter part of it, they were discussing World events. At about 33:30, Mod Osborne, discussing the type of events they plan to hold in the future, says something that sounded suspiciously like humans vs. Vampyres.

I might have misheard since it was rather low, Mod Mark was talking over him, and quickly stopped saying anything, but there you go, just thought I'd bring it up.

I recall that too. I think he said that it was a possibility they discussed among others, or at least that was the kind of thing they had in mind for the other world events.

A safe rule to abide by in these situations is that if there is a possibility that Jagex will sideline Morytania, they will.

^I've always thought of it similarly too. That way I'm not too crushed when another month without Morytania comes along, but if it happens then I'm pleasantly surprised.

Though on the topic of a humans vs vampyres world event...I sorta have to wonder how exactly that sort of thing would even work if they were to release it. From a story perspective I can see the vampyres either paying for mercenaries or having their ranks filled with disguised humans who want a spot in vampyre society, but I can't see an event like that happening from a gameplay perspective because....well....with the salve in the way how would that be possible to hold without gutting a lot of quest requirements? Unless they hold it in a section of Morytania that doesn't need quests to get to or something.
