There's nothing for us in the January BTS, except a double-edged sword.

Jagex are putting up polls that will affect what content is being worked on and, by implication, what won't be worked on. This month battles the Elf City against the next skill. Pay attention to the result, because it will be a good indicator of which way the wind blows for other quests too.

The elf quest looks to be demolishing the new skill ten to one on the thread, heres hoping to Myreque next :)

^The 5th Age V----- theory is based off of one of the old lores and histories too, citing the discovery of rune essence at the beginning of the 5th Age. Definitely not a wiki thing.

I know this may be a bit late, but I hope you have good luck finding him, Kitty.

'Yeah, like: Don't you think some Icyene would want to check up on their main city on Gielinor?

Though I would kimagine they d, are utterly dismayed, and then are told by Saradomin not to bother with it at this time.'

-----
Way I see it, there's a few ways it could have gone:

-The Icyene tried to get into contact with Hallowvale, failed, and got distracted by Saradomin's fight with Zamorak after the 6th age began (unlikely seeing how they didn't do any actual fighting in that case)

- Same beginning as above, but they got into the region long enough to confront the vampyres somehow and died without their god around to help out. This might actually be a background event that gets revealed in the next quest if this did happen.

- As you said, Saradomin just gave them orders to not bother with it at the time. Seeing how the god is currently preparing for an expedition to the Centaur homeland to revive the race, he might not simply have time right now to direct a campaign to retake his former holdings.

- We also don't know the current state of the Icyene homeworld. It could be that there's something going on there that's keeping them too busy to try getting around to Hallowvale.

I'll stop before I end up staying around all night, but that's just the tip of the iceberg of what could be going on imo.

I thought the polls just decided which update got priority when it comes to development time and release dates more than what actually gets worked on and put in the game. Or did I miss something or misunderstand what you said again? O_o

The dwarf-pirate-gnome poll was also just for which got worked on first, yet gnome and pirate quests aren't in development, and don't look lie they'll enter development anytime soon.

I wouldn't expect invention for another couple of years.

This makes me wonder if they would do something like poll Myreque vs Mining/smithing rework. I just hope quests will win out.

^ Good point, but I seriously hope they don't put Myreque against something like a Mining/Smithing rework if it makes it to the polls. As much as I like hard choices, I don't think I'd be able to pick between the 2 at all D:

But isn't invention supposed to be tied to the 6th age storyline though? I find it hard to believe they'd progress a storyline while leaving out something that's tied to it. Then again, I've been wrong about that before >_>

You know that the stonework under the canifis trapdoor and the caverns with the doors that lead to the swamp may be the remains of Kharyrll? Kharyrll may have been connected to the blood altar to hold it so Zarosian runecrafters could use it to fuel blood runes for ancient magicks. Some say that Fenkenstein Castle was built from the surface ruins of Kharyrll and that the canifis trapdoor dungeons and trapdoor behind the pub used to be connected to it in a similar fashion to the edgeville dungeon and Paddewwa. Sources say that Mort Myre was once beautiful with villages and the caverns with the door that lead to the swamp may be what also remains of Kharyrll.

A few interesting tidbits from the Top Trumps, assuming that they are canon:

Dharok is 3600 years old, placing the Barrows campaign at roughly 2550 3rd Age (assuming 3rd Age is 4000 years long as he joins the army at 19 to make it a nice number)

If Zilyana's age does not include time frozen, she would have been born at 1669 3rd Age and therefore likely not have been around to see the Fall of Hallowvale if it happened in the 3rd Age so we probably can't get any information out of her

Vanescula Drakan is 6900, placing her birth at 1269 2nd Age. Make of that what you will.

On the other hand Yelps has the highest quest factor of all the cards so their canon-ness is entirely speculative

I have not seen info from a single Top Trumps card that does not contain at least one wild inaccuracy or lorehole generating, bizarre figure. I don't think Osborne, Ana, John A, or anyone else integral to formulating the story of Runescape had anything to do with these cards. I don't think they were made by consulting the lore bible. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if the person responsible for coming up with specific numbers isn't even FROM Jagex!

Icyene live around 10,000 years
Vanescula is older than the 2nd Age, and likely older than most Mahjarrat, coming from Vampyrium
Yelps is a microtransaction mechanic and not a character in Gielinor

I am almost completely positive these cards are non-canon

Well, I know this might not amount to much, but one of the new polls mentions a top secret minigame that takes place in instanced areas across the map. I forget the exact locations off the top of my head, but Darkmeyer was on the list of what I'm guessing are the locations that are gonna be put into it anyway. And Canifis is nominated to be put into it as a poll option.

Don't think we'll be getting much lore from the 'game itself, but maybe we'll finally be seeing more of Morytania overall?

*crosses fingers*
