@Mithril I was just pointing out that one look at my account makes it fairly obvious it is a legit account and not a spambot. I even put "completed" in quotes because trim comp is still a long way from completing the game.

And speaking of completing things I still don't see any point to cres sharpening the reaper's scythe. Also isn't that what he uses to reap soles and him going missing (not severing souls) in mpd for just a short while wrecked all the things so I'm very confused how Cres having it for all this time didn't break the afterlife.

Meanwhile, some compers bot (or at least auto-click in some way) at Priff skilling spots.

Being a comper doesn't excuse you from being a troll or "legit". Like I know I troll and I'm nearly maxed so...

@ Wolfie

To my assumption from reading a wonderful piece of lore. There was no real point to the actual task of sharpening the scythe but instead a way to hide his alterior motive from Ipcress. So Death omitted/lied to him, while in disguise saying he wanted the scythe sharpened which was also enchanted with an illusion to look like a dull/worn farm tool. In order to find a worthy Guthixian recruit while still being under the radar of detection. Because his other purpose for being there was to reap the souls that were stolen from him that Zemmy was recycling. Most likely Death was testing him to see if he had qualities and traits that the position he needed filled required so prob a crafty, dedicated and motivated artisan.

No Death was never a shoe cobbler in his mortal life or his now immortal existence. He to my knowledge never ripped or reaped a sole. However he might have reaped corn in his human lifetime most likely. You could say he reaped what he sowed when he was human...
But as Death he was the one who severed the souls from the corpses and bring them to their next phase in death.

In MPD he wasn't out of commission for too long to be any severe repercussions and I think all that his absence did was not allow souls to leave the dying bodies. Thanks to the world guardian they put him back on task fairly quick.

As for the confusion with Ipcress holding the scythe for that period of time however long or short it was. Didn't seem too long a few days a week? Was never specified the exact amount.
But with Zemmy around recycling souls that would leave the reaper with a lot of free time with no souls to reap. Because Zemmy was containing them all within fleshy abominations.

Continued

Forgot to mention maybe Ipcress was still being tested up until he was about to pass on to see if he had courage to stand up to Zemmy in this case, and speak up for those who needed it against a great foe even if it meant sacrificing himself.

I also think Zemmy lost this ability to recycle souls in present time, and can only trap them in their original undead bodies like he does now as zombies. Since it seems his staff has been destroyed while confronting Death. In the 200th quest or other quests/places, we only ever see him with a sword and book no longer a staff with green orb. So perhaps the staff allowed him to accomplish that past ability. Like how we need in game certain weapons to use an ability or a special. Maybe he needed his staff and book to recycle souls to perform his special. Actually there's no mention of the book back then so maybe it replaced that destroyed staff he had however long after that event occurred.

Loved getting to read about the origins of some the Guardians.

Death testing Cress to see if he was what Guthix needed.
Cress reborn as a Guardian of Guthix with the task of building an army of automatons.
Faria bringing Cres Juna's egg to raise her.
That the automatons were not just Guthix's body guards, but were meant to be an army to fight against the armies of other gods.

Does this mean that since we are the WORLD GUARDIAN that we can command this army?
May the Deliciousness be with you.

I loved this story it all made sense in the end. I hope more storys like this are released.
I do have one question though, why do the imperial army arm its soldiers with iron and and bronze? Those 2 metals are the weakest of all metals in Gielinor, like even normal guards ingame have steel weapons. I thought that an ordinary soldier in the Zarosian empire would have at least mithril or steel not bronze and Iron.
The guards of a small town like Lumbridge have rune weapons even.
There is joy in combat that can't be found anywhere else.

YES!! I definitely love that you guys started with Lores and Histories, 2012 was a great year, 2013... hand nothing. Now this, Mod Raven working on another one: Oooh... I have my hopes up!

I love lore, many people (I know) love lore, we would like more lore. But most lore seems to come from expensive stuff (both in terms of (dev)time and money), like quests. If there's any change that we could get more of these non-quest lore things, that would be amazing!

Lores & Histories; journal monster drops (think Deamonheim, Ascention, Airuts, etc.); memories (like those of the gods, or those of the Mahjarrat); library books; letters sent from NPC to NPC but intercepted/lost (and found by the adventurer); dialogue, post-quest, or just out of the blue; a mix of all this; new lore, old lore, ancient lore; deep lore, trivial lore; lore, lore, lore!!

Yes, that would be awesome. I imagine that it's potentially: much cheaper; faster; frequent; deeper/filled/richer; and even interconnected than quests can be with a similar budget and time frame.

Yes, please do this more!

I love that the Lores and Histories are back, but I only have one problem...the L&H page isn't exactly accessible...I was able to get to the page via links in the front page news post on looting mechanics, but when I searched around the site itself trying to find out how to get to the page without digging through news posts, I hit a wall. I don't see any way to access the L&H page, not even after looking at the L&H page itself to find a directory link or anything. Any way that we could get it added to the Game Guide tab so that we may find it again in the future?

Duly noted - a more prominent link is something we can consider in the future.

Oh, yes, please!! Do this, I thought they were removed from the site, I've been looking on the unofficial wikia instead.

Also... some of the Q&As (especially the ones about lore) are also hard to find. Typing queries in the search bar of the website also doesn't seem to work.

I know it's a bit late to say this, but loved this story. I especially love all the little world-building details in it, and how it actually gives an account of the second age from the point of view of a common man really living it (which is especially enriched when compared against the more patrician accounts in Mahjarrat Memories). I particularly liked the details about the different smithing implements, primitive mechanics, weapon enchantments - I'm always impressed when a dev/writer is able to completely reframe a piece of long-existing ingame content in a clever way. Kudos, hope there are more Mod William lores to come!
