Hi all, I have played since around 2003 or so and restarted my character just a few months ago after a few of years inactivity. I liked the "older" version so I went to
O S R S and started over.
This post is about my character's name only because while looking through some wiki information I ran across an interesting piece of lore not directly involving the main game. So I figured posting here in Lore & History would be about the best place to share.
So when I first stared I made up a name for other games I was playing back then and have used in many others I have played. It actually came from the old "Final Fantasy" game where there was a place called "The Gargant Roo" so to make it sound more like a name I changed the spelling to "Gargon Roo".
I was searching in wiki's about RuneScape and ran across this piece of "lore" connected to a quest, the "Summers End" .
I thought it was interesting the name "Gargon", actually spelled this was popped up. Gargon was a non-appearing NPC that had an attachment to the "Summer's" quests series. So here it is.
"Gargon was a farmhand to Erik Bonde, the owner of a small farm in the Wilderness some 400 years ago. Gargon came with the Bonde family as one of three farmhands, the other 2 being Jallek Lenkin, and Meranek Thanatos.
Gargon served the family for roughly 10 years. Erik's wife, Jennica, died of a spider bite some 5 years after hiring Gargon. Six years later, the entire family and its farmhands were massacred by a rogue band of men, seemingly for no reason. Gargon was not present during the slaughter, as he was running an errand nearby. That made him the sole surviving inhabitant of the farm, also saving him from the Spirit beast.
When he returns from his task, he finds the entire family slain. He buries their remains in a large cave north of the farm, where Jennica had been buried six years prior. His ultimate fate is unknown."
"Could this be an ancestor to the Gargon Roo today?" You decide.
Thanks,
Gargon Roo
