While Guthix sleeps wasn't as good in my opinion, not actually because it's not well made (it is very well made), but because the sheer amount of unanimous praise made my expectations for the quest way too high.

I'd say the World Wakes for now. The final scene with Guthix's memories was amazing - I even used a portion of Memories of Guthix (the music track) for a play I'd directed.

Gonna have to say monkey madness. For me, it is the perfect example of a complete 5th age style quest. Humour, difficulty, and a good story line.

It doesn't have the great characters of some of the more lore heavy quests, but for me that is its only weakness.

Hmm...Difficult.

I'm gonna say Do No Evil for now, since I loved the story progression in it, the puzzles and combat were fun, it took me about 6 hours, the music was nice, and of course, we learned a good amount of lore.

Perhaps this will change when I start and complete my redoing all quests spree :P

Yeah, it did change after finishing the marathon. I forgot to post here right after, I know I have a top 10 list that I wrote right as completing it though, I think that would be more accurate than what I think now since back then it was super all fresh in my memory.

But, in the end, While Guthix Sleeps is indeed my favorite quest. Not an uncommon favorite for people, but after having done it twice, and all other quests for that matter I really was able to compare it without any outside bias, and it was indeed the best one for me. A lot of elements were well done, the adventure of going all over the world, there were very little amounts of things I could criticize about it. (One being that random part where you knock over the truth serum and have to make another seeming rather needless)

Also the irony will never leave me about the fact that the best quest of many is the worst in the perspective of the adventurer. Losing the Stone of Jas to Lucien, a lot of your friends from earlier adventurers, with only an alliance (that later on mostly die too) to speak of as a success from it all.

But then I always think, perhaps that's a part of what makes it so special.

Oh, one other thing I want to mention. The quest that had me laugh the most was probably Lunar Diplomacy. I swear the writer spent hours alone on a late night writing all of the dialogue for the pirates for every step you proceed while on that ship throughout the quest. I haven't seen any amount of changeable dialogue anywhere else in the game lol.

Favorite part of it:

Player:
So… Call yourself a navigator huh? Way to plot a course that’s a big circle!
"Bird's-Eye" Jack:
Frankly sirrah your rudeness is quite appalling! My calculations and plotted course were expertly calculated, and there can be only one reason why the ship has failed to arrive at its expected destination.
Player:
Oh really? What’s that then? Wrong kind of waves? Your steering wheel got stuck?
"Bird's-Eye" Jack:
I do not have to take this kind of abuse from a common stowaway.
Player:
I’ll have you know that I am a personal friend of the Captain, and he himself invited me aboard for a small cruise around Lunar Isle along with a variety of local delicacies and beverages!
"Bird's-Eye" Jack:
Really? You don’t seem like the type he would make friends with.
Player:
Oh, absolutely. Me and him go way back. Waaaaaay back. We’re like… apples and custard. Everybody says so. Yup, me and Captain Renney, we’re a team.
"Bird's-Eye" Jack:
You mean Captain Bent**y?
Player:
Right. Bent**y. That*s what I said.
"Bird's-Eye" Jack:
No you did*’t. You called him Captain Renney.
Player:
Oh, yeah, it’s like a nickname. Only his friends are allowed to call him that.
"Bird's-Eye" Jack:
Yet I have known him for over 20 years and he has never asked to be referred to as anything except Captain Bent**y.
Player:
Wow, he must hate you.

Heh, nice quote. In general, the pirate quests have some really great humour and dialogue.

Also, I brought it up before, but I will bring it up again now. People have different opinions, so you might think some quest other than WGS deserved the top spot. But to think something is wrong with WGS SOLELY for the fact that it's a mainstream choice, or that it's overly-praised, is completely childish.

There was a period where I shunned WGS for the two reasons above. I also convinced myself that I did not remember WGS properly, and I the only reason I said I liked it was b/c everyone said they liked it. Then I watched Robo's marathon, and realized that I really did think WGS was the best.

But who knows.. maybe Mourners Ends will outdo WGS. Lots of people might say that it's super overly hyped, but why should that stop me from judging the quest solely based on it's quality? Perhaps at worst I wouldn't enjoy the quest at all because of massive hype. But after some time, and looking back, I might think it is the best quest from an objective standpoint.

Hah, that is a brilliant quote. OSF, BTMR, Returning Clarence, ACS and MABA also had me laugh out quite loudly. :P

Anyway, I've changed your vote. Would you perhaps care to share your top 10? I'm quite interested which quests are in it, and I'd like to compare it to my own. :3

Perhaps you're half right; perhaps we can't win. But we can fight.

Hmm, I couldn't find my old list, but I can still remember all of the quests fairly well, even if it has been a few moths since the marathon ended. I went through and read the quest list once, writing down the quests that stuck out.

Then read it again, and added some more.

Then put that list somewhere else, and read the quest list two more times, writing down the lists again.

Then compared the two to delete the ones I didn't choose for both.

Then after that, I summarized the final list, there were over 20 and I sifted through them to make sure I'm really choosing my favorites, what I really think were the best quests.

Then, after all that, I finally have my 10 quest list, but 5 runner ups that need mentioning as well. The runner ups are more ones that succeeded excellently in one regard, moreso than other quests, but that was the most memorable thing about the quest, not necessarily being well-rounded.

Here's my Top Ten: (In no particular order other than the first one. I can make a top 10, but I can't number them each in priority)

-While Guthix Sleeps
-The Chosen Commander
-The Fremennik Isles
-The Path of Glouphrie
-Monkey Madness
-Do No Evil
-A Void Dance
-Darkness of Hallowvale
-The Great Brain Robbery
-One of a Kind

Here's the 5 Runner Ups/Honorable Mentions

-One Small Favour
-Meeting History
-The Feud
-Carnillean Rising
-Shadow of the Storm
