I was doing my weekly replay and noticed even more things~
First off - there HAS to be someone else in the mansion. At least that must have been the original intention. Who searched through Ingram's papers? What did they take? Is it really Ormod locking all these doors, and if so, why wouldn't he just come in and kill us?
There are many blank spaces on the walls from pictures that have been taken down, and many others pictures that have been covered. I noticed, however, that all the covered pictures and (presumably removed) pictures in piles are landscapes, not portraits! What is the significance of this place that the prior occupant could not even stand to look at its image, when it clearly must have been important to Ormod (or perhaps some other prior inhabitant).
The secret passage from the upper bedroom to the basement - why was this built? What was it used for? Was it somehow related to all the soldiers that were once quartered there? Did some force threaten to seize the manse in the past?
Lenian's Tim Burtonesque skeleton doll (which, appropriately, becomes fleshy in the skeletal portrait gallery). I'd have loved to have seen this come up in the quest, and I'm a little disappointed it was never touched on. Cutesy-creepy ftw!
And, just to reiterate - the covered furniture, the clutter, the spoiled goods, THE GIANT MYSTERIOUS COVERED STATUES - clearly this mansion has not been lived in for a very long time. Something else is going on.
And a couple minor points - some of the recycled models still have their old examines. Specifically, a desk in the basement references a shopkeeper, and a couple of cages in the asylum refer to the Black Knights' Fortress. These probably ought to be changed.
Still a very fun quest, even on my 4th play-through.
