That being said, I personally would rather we make our own completely new content, rather than just recycle from RS3. I'm sure the popular mechanics from player owned ports could be incorporated into sailing in some fashion or other, though.

But I don't want Sailing as a skill :(

I don't want to offend you, so please do not think I think your concept is bad, but I think Sailing as a skill is just lame.

It's a gut feeling, I can't back it up with proper logic.

Sometimes you just dislike something and sometimes you just like it.

Sailing is just one of those things for me that really doesn't excite me.

Can't help but feel that sailing has potential and could possibly be a money sink as the rewards for sailing could be areas with resources like yew trees rocks, and certain monsters sort of like with dungeoneering except the areas would actually make sense rather than just being there for the sake of being there. The money sink could be repairing the ship with planks, nails, and the swamp paste but this would serve as a money sink as well as give a reason to make nails hgher than steel because a better ship requires better nails along with better planks. Bring memes to OSRS general forum

Thanks. It's true, sailing's popularity seems to be its downfall because now some people treat it like a joke; as if it's popular because it's a joke. When, in fact, it was joked about because it was so popular but never came into game.

Never understood why. In writing this thread I started to realise that sailing has such an enormity of potential it seems downright weird that jagex appear to be deliberately avoiding it.

I can but hope, like dragon plates and dragon kites, that it being an april fools event does not strictly rule it out of possibility. Sailing
