This is definitely the best idea of Sailing I've seen since before summoning came out. My idea for the PDC was Archaeology, which was also popular, but never included, but I see now that sailing can offer archaeology in its own sense, where the main drive is discovery.
I don't know for the majority of players today, but if a skill ever were to come out in Old School, Jagex would have to poll skilling as an alternative. There's just no other way I ever see a new skill coming out.
It may be years, but I too have a dream of Sailing being the new skill to come to Runescape, that's what I hoped for when Dungeoneering came out, and that's what I hoped for when Summoning came out, and even Farming.
This may be one of the oldest, most thrilling ideas ever to be proposed on the forums, and if I could give it a badge in honor of that, I would. And you sir, have the best version of it. Congratulations. #Sanforpres.
