A more recent scam I have seen involves a team of at least two players where one will play a support role. The first player will advertise that they are giving away a large amount of gold to the first person to show the most money. However, they are actually attempting to target everyone who trades them. After you have shown them your wealth, they will proceed to tell you to turn your private chat on so that they can contact you if you've "won". At this point, their friend will message you telling you that they've won and they want to try and anti lure them. They go on to say that they successfully anti lured them for "x" amount of money.
Then, the original will message you to try and lure you, knowing that their partner has already set up the lure. They attempt to make it as believable as possible to get you to try anti luring them. However, they will try to outsmart you. In most cases, the culprits have planned these lures out extensively. It's best to not trust anyone who is claiming to give people money, but something has to be done first, such as showing a certain amount of money, or giving them money first. These are obvious scams, as nothing should be required to receive free things. I apologize if this was confusing or hard to understand. Simply do not trust anyone when things seem too good to be true, as they often are.
