Thanks for making this thread. This is a serious problem in OSRS, I can honestly say I've seen more scams in this game than I have in the last 10 years combined (playing on and off). It's quite disheartening but hopefully it will get better soon.
I fell victim to a scam yesterday and can't believe I fell for it. I accepted an offer upon checking the price guide (I'm not sure if I'm supposed to mention the price guide - please remove if not allowed) and seeing that it was a pretty good offer based on the average price listed on the guide. However, I didn't take the time to carefully look at the times, etc, and realize that the sell/buy offers were fake. Scammers are posting fake ads to inflate prices. Watch out for this one, guys. Two items I know of are Rune Satchels and Mort Myre Stems.
I just wanted to confirm this so I know for sure: It's OK to report scammers when they haven't successfully scammed you, right?
Scenario 1: You put up a phat, the buyer says that his friend is buying for a price higher than you're asking, puts up teleports and accepts, tells you to tele to that location to meet the friend... hoping that you'll either trust him or that you've forgotten/don't notice that you already put your phat up in the trade screen.
Scenario 2: You put up a phat. The buyer puts up the price you're asking, quickly removes it and accepts. Then quickily declines it when you don't accept right away. This one happens CONSTANTLY. I've only reported the ones where I was the first to decline.
Thanks!
