"Help me drop trade this" - player will approach you and ask if you will stand watch while he drop trades items to another account. He will lead you north (usually from Varrock) to the wilderness, hop ditch, and drop a coin stack in the wilderness. Obviously don't fall for it.

Help me transfer items to another account - similar to above, except this time he will want you to buy his items for a "cheap" price and then resell them to his other account for the same amount. Do not fall for this, either.

This thread feels a lot like San's thread in osrs general about the game's authenticity. You're warning people about armour trimming, "say your pass backwards" and selling "rare" items which just doesn't happen any more. :P

I did create the thread with the intention of outlining scams that were popular back in this time period . Old School was still fresh at this point so I didn't know what to expect.

So i was just scammed... By "Football"

He told me he was giving away all his stuff and if i followed him i would get some of it, we went to the top of the tree gnome stronghold by the swamp, where the giant tortise is.

He told me to drop my 3rd age full helm and come trade him.. so i did, as we were in trade his accomplice "Conv" ran over and ranged the giant tortise so that it was ontop my 3rd age full helmet.. I tried to get it back but my character wouldn* walk into the tortise, but somehow "Football" did... :/

Sorry to hear that, in the future it would be best if you weren't so naive and tread with caution. When players ask you to drop items, especially expensive ones and then you trade them that should immediately raise red flags as that almost always means they are planning to scam you out of whatever item you dropped. Be sure to report these players for scamming so Jagex can take action against them.
