Good post, gives really good advice to players who have been a victim to keep their eyes open and to those others who haven't been a victim but may become one if they are not careful. RuneHQ Community Crew - Mentor

So i completed my first ever medium clue on RS07 today, and was pretty chuffed getting a zammy cloak!

Went to W301 to try and sell and 'YOUTUBE VIDS' offered me 1m for it, so me being carried away from getting a good reward from first clue decided to accept.

Clicked accept on second trade screen before it was too late to decline; they'd offered 100k.

Asked for cloak back and they logged out. I reported for scamming straight away.

Kinda sucks that people still do this and it has kinda ruined the excitement of getting my first clue reward.

Any way of possibly getting any of my money back? I know its a long shot but I could have really used that money!

Other than that just a heads up really, look out for this scammer. Hope someone can do something about their account?

Not much you can do to get your money back sorry. You did the right thing reporting it though - rest assured the account will be investigated and punished if they do find it had scammed.

Always scrutinize that second trade window carefully.

Hey guys, got another scam/lure for everyone to watch out for. Its called the Candle lure and it happens in w301 seers village and other worlds.

First of all, BEWARE of players named ' Cobba ' and ' lGOT CABBAGE ' (spelled with a lower case L) as these two are partners in crime for it.

So here is what it is, basically they ask if you're rich and want to play a game with them called 'The candle game'. They then tell you to bring your best items/cash with you & that the more brought, the more reward you get and follow them to the Temple of Ikov candle room (where you get the boots of lightness). What they do when upstairs of that room is they check your inventory to see what you brought through trade of course, then trade you an unlit candle and tinderbox. After that part is done, they then tell you to trade back the tinderbox and go downstairs to the far end of the room by the web. They'll tell you to drop all your items after they go back upstairs. Once they hope the lured player has done that, they'll tell you to extinguish the candle and trade it back to them. Now keep in mind that the rooms are DIFFERENT WHEN LIT AND UNLIT , therefore you are unable to go back downstairs to obtain your items after you have 'dropped' them.

Hope this helps players in the future to avoid this scam. And if either of the aforementioned players are seen, REPORT THEM IMMEDIATELY.

Enjoy your scaping fellow players,

Final Potato/Rush.

I don't know if anyone has posted this scam or not, but I don't want to read through 40 pages to find out. So for those who do know, here's a reminder and to those who don't know, here's a heads up. This scam takes place on Entrana. The scammer will tell you to bring all of your most valuable items (noting armor and weapons). When you get there the scammer will trade you a few junk items including an unnoted teasing stick. Then tell you to drop your items and trade the junk back for a large sum of money, but teasing sticks count as weapons so a monk will come and teleport you off the island leaving no time to get back to your expensive items (by the way, I tried to get an unnoted teasing stick on to Entrana via the Abyss, Balloon Transport System, and of course, the boat, but nothing worked. This means they smuggled it in by some bug so you can also report them for bug abuse). If they don't trade you a teasing stick (or anything unnoted that can be equipped) then you can possibly get money off the scammer ;) . The other thing to watch out for is you only have 60 seconds from the first item you drop to complete the trade with the scammer and the scammer definitely knows this so it is very risky to play their game. The second part of this scam (which didn't happen to me) is to promise a much larger sum of money if you go down the ladder and through the portal at the end. If you go down the ladder you can't go back up, but you can home teleport with the money you already got from the first part. DO NOT GO THROUGH THE PORTAL . There will certainly be pk'ers in the Wilderness where it teleports you. "Ott" tried this scam on me and thankfully failed. Beware to all and farewell.

just to beware, if you are asked to go to a place like the shanty pass or lumbridge bank in a pvp world. dont go as the whole areas are not safe spots like other banks, i was just scammed 7.4m buying a bandos chestplate, where i logged into what i thought would be a safe zone at the shanty pass and was greeted by two scammers. if it doesnt seem right, dont do it

Switching identical items is a tricky one for sure, it's always a good idea to check that second trade window to make sure you're getting the items you traded for. If someone is scamming people everyday a report would be a good idea to let Jagex know what's happening.
