Ok I played since 05-06, the active community on osrs is basically just an extension of the post-Eoc rs3 community. You can tell by the content. The amount of players and levels in the wilderness. They should just make the game open source at this point.
I loved pre-ge. Played avidly from RS2 release and it really added something to the game, having to go and barter etc.
However, skill grinds/quest items were an absolute pain.. I'd like to see a GE that specifically traded consumables and such but restricted the trade of high-end PVM items.

I do not believe the group was ever that big.
Explain the 230k player counters back then, nubnub.
you do realize that for one the game is split among two different ones now splitting the player base and also as hard as it is to believe the bot count back then was actually worse than it currently is. Which is saying a lot considering how bad it still is. So that 230k player count isnt exactly massive
Most of the Pre-GE players are in their mid to late 20s to 30s now with better things to do. This is actually the first time I've logged on in 4 years I started playing around 2003 and played pretty consistently for a few years and have taken a bunch of breaks in the years last time I was playing I had to make a new account It had been so long since I played I couldn't remember a thing about my last account.
Played pre-GE although not that much, but even so, I think there's still a great deal of them playing, since addiction can go a dangerously long way, especially when someone learns how to take advantage of it...
Original Classic Runescape player here. Played back when you dueled in lumby, had a sleeping bag to restore fatigue, and 10k was HUGE MONEY. Pre-GE was fun, but I'm gonna be honest it's nice to not have to type glow2:scroll:Selling lobbies 180 ea! anymore, or trying to find who was selling that full set of rune armor for 200k.
Wow. I had no idea there were still people here playing since RSC. I just started a new account 2 days ago after quitting back in 2013. I had played consistently since 2002. Bluerose13x was a God(dess?), santas were 25k ea, and lesser demons were scary. I'm still pro-GE though. It's just so convenient. You don't want to sit there spamming @ran@ selling coal certs 1k ea
