Many of the older players from 2013 - 2015 have basically moved on, including myself.

Never quite got around to the Raid bosses, not even the House favor.

If you guys don't want the GE, just make an ironman account. It already bans you from using the GE and basically any trading (except for a couple quests), it makes the game more difficult because you have to be self sufficient.

I keep looking for reasons to come back, but so far nothing has stuck.

I think it'd be nice with the numbers coming from ex rs2 - rs3 players and new players on mobile to have maybe 2 members worlds full and 1 non members full around ge at least.

I noticed at the start it was like that but nowadays people don't really trade outside of ge unless they are buying in bulk or buy or a very rare item to sell.

And even those sales would be private via different worlds and locations for players to meet at.

The easiest way to get around it would be to have a tax money sink system in place for the GE. It may help people trade in person. But as one player said, you had to deal with a lot of scammers, and even though that was part of the charm to figure out for new players, it's still not needed necessarily in game. I think to have a balance would be nice, and maybe a GE tax would help as it would be quicker to sell but at a little loss. It would also stop alts just spamming trades all day in GE. That to me beats the purpose of the game and may even endorse things like RWT when they don't actually contribute to the game in any meaningful way.

This probably sounds ridiculous (since there's a game mode for it) but I actually tend to do things oldschool without buying items sometimes. I don't have an ironman account and it's hard to not be sucked in to buying stuff at times, but I manage since I played the old game. I've never been a fan of new modes. I'm not saying ironman is rubbish as it adds so many great difficult layers to the game, but you can sort of play ironman without it being a mode too. Clan Defy -

Pre-GE folks would be happy with the "big" Darkmeyer update. Woot! New agility minigame. Nice! We couldn't wait for it!!!!! But wait... that was 2013 or 2014....

Just be realistic, who really still enjoy doing the agility in 2020. No surprise, Darkmeyer is pretty dead already after a couple of days. You don't even see many people streaming it.

I'm a pre-GE player and while I do miss a lot from those days I do not think removing the GE is an appeal that would have a positive impact on the game. I don't think there is anyone holding out on playing simply because they do not like the GE.

I'm not dead yet, this account was born in 2003! In my opinion everyone who enjoys playing Ironman will have positive memories of pre-GE days, as this mode does a good job of re-creating that nostalgic experience. My favourite aspect of pre-GE era was definitely the trading in big worlds! It was such a dope feeling when there is thousands of people spamming text and you try to get noticed by making yours in different colour, in flash1/flash2/flash3, or going to a less crowded area. Also when you did finally buy/sell an item that you wanted, you saw the person on the receiving end, instead of it simply dissapearing on GE. Maybe it was a lower levelled player that needed your old armour/weapon, and you could help them with something else?

Another aspect that I find nostalgic is how shops in pre-GE days could have items from other players, and could also be sold out of certain items - rune pickaxe in dwarven mine comes to mind. Even though I did eventually buy one, I remember hopping worlds and it was always sold out! Nowadays of course all shops are instanced and people hardly use shops unless its to buy bulk supplies.

I have been playing since "Runescape Classic" was Runescape, always on/off though...

Personally, I miss using the Forums or Worlds to trade/barter with people and I used to make a ton of money marching that way.

I miss a lot of the old mechanics, the high risk death system, no values shown on trade etc. sure there was a lot of scamming going on, and my poor internet connection caused me a lot of heartache but it was part of what made the game thrilling...just my two cents :P

The GE is definitely nice and easy to use though ^^
