What I've been trying to say for years at this point is OSRS needs new content.
I think everybody was riding on the nostalgia train back in 2013 when a generation of kids turned adults went back to the game they loved playing. After the first six months or so that nostalgia faded away. Jagex decided to add new exclusive content for OSRS, including a slayer dungeon, the Kraken, Zulrah, new achievement diaries, a new level of clue scroll (Elite, Master) and the Raids.
All of that was a good thing. New content being implemented into the game while still retaining that old school feel more or less.
OSRS is just boring now. It feels dead, despite the influx of people joining after OSRS hit the mobile game market and the COVID-19 pandemic. Content from years ago that Jagex added onto OSRS hasn't had any changes in a long time.
I can't see myself ever returning to OSRS, but even if I were a fairly new player, in its current state I don't see me playing for more than a few weeks before quitting.
This game is already going where pre-EOC era Runescape was going a decade ago. Players who are completed maxed out and have a Max Skill Cape have little to no reason to keep playing.
Every time I have suggested a new skill or a new training method for OSRS over the years my suggestions get shot down because every other person tells me Jagex would have to rewrite the entire game in order for that new skill or new training method to be properly implemented. So I completely gave up on the general public.
New skills, new quest lines that make us do things differently, nobody wants that. They're too comfortable doing what they want to do and aren't willing to change. Another reason why I left this game.
