Many users fail to understand that in the past RS once had millions of paying members, now we are seeing a fraction of those numbers. Costs to produce the game have increased and income has decreased, there needed to be some measure to generate further revenue.
I do not see a problem with SoF or Solomon's store and the concept of buying XP and RSGP has no merit, seeing how you need to spend a considerable amount to gain the XP users are raging over. Paying for a cosmetic items that do not effect your character is something that has been offered for years in other games and once again should not have any complaints.
The key matter of concern is that with Jagex releasing a post like this, (that fundamentally states it listens to its user base) is hypocrisy. Users have been complaining over all aspects of the upcoming EoC and Jagex are only addressing these concerns minimally.
Past and new players who enjoy the combat system love it for its simplicity. The clean interface and the 'pick-up-and-play' mechanics allows for anyone to grasp the gaming concept. I know the combat system is broken but further discussions needs to be made to come up with an alternative.
To quote Fry from Futurama
"But that's not why people [Play RS]. Clever things make people feel
stupid, and unexpected things make them feel scared."
-Fry
This is not a dig at the community, we are not all imbeciles but what has been created radically changes what has been ingrained in players for the past decade. It is going to drive players away and this time there will be not rectifying such as returning free trade and the wilderness.
I doubt that this message will be read by a mod, but I felt the need to add my two cents to this matter.
