I'm sorry, I'm just not buying it. A while ago we were told that the only advantage money would get you in RS was membership, and that made sense. Then, money could only get you cosmetic changes, but squeal of fortune changed that, or took it to the edge. But straight up bank spaces? I remember quitting mmos because my friends had way more bank than I did, and it wasn't worth paying for equal footing. That is a straight up advantage, unarguably so. They did what they said they wouldn't. For me that generates a loss of credibility.
Regarding Bot busting and no gold sales: They HAD to bot bust. It was destroying the game. I'm glad they did it, but those 'millions of accounts they lost' includes millions of accounts that had already quit or not started because no one wants to play a game next to a bunch of bots, and selling gold would destroy the game, but if they can control the price of that gold (aka not compete with sweat shops), then they could sell enough, or at a high enough price, that it wouldn't 'ruin the game', and at this rate I wouldn't be surprised if they would.
As a person who's played on and off for 10 years (I have the cape!), I'll continue to follow my pattern: on a month, off a couple, but I'm starting to seriously doubt that RS has a hopeful future, unless they start listening to complaints and focus more on game integrity, and less on immediate profits.
Of course, RS can do what they want, and I'm glad they can. If short term profit is what they want, great for them. I just won't be a part of it. Who knows, maybe people will like the pay-for-everything system and RS will grow with that system. I wish them good luck either way! I just know that I'm not going to pay for benefits, and I mourn what has already transpired.
