The price increase didn't make any sense until I saw the stock of the company that owns Jagex lost half its value from what it was in November 2017. I think this is probably the real reason for the price increase for RuneScape. Nothing Jagex was saying was making any sense for a price increase, Brexit, Mobile, new content, and hiring more employees, with the profits Jagex is making, could be done without a price increase.
Recovering losses because the stock of the company that owns Jagex lost half its value in the last six months makes sense for why there would be a price increase for RuneScape, since RuneScape is making profits and doing well financially, it can prop up other projects and new games the owning company wants to make, and help with recovering losses.
On the plus side, it looks like the stock of the company that owns Jagex is starting to rise again in the last few days, and if that continues maybe RuneScape won't need any further price increases for some time. Lets hope the stock of the company that owns RuneScape continues to rise, because then maybe RuneScape won't see any further price increases for some time.
