This is a disgrace. Like I know a lot of people here are saying it's only a few bucks more quit whining and whatever but it's not just that.
When I played, runescape was SIMPLY $5.00 a month. It was a main staple as to why runescape was something people came to. It was affordable, cheap, and we got amazing content. I find the price range absolutely unacceptable when you keep raising it. This is not the first time Jagex raised the price of membership for runescape. It's not even the second time. It's like the third or fourth time jagex raised this price for membership. For what? A Mobile game? Your population is decreasing more and more each time I come to look jagex. This is NOT the way to solve your issues. It doesnt matter how much things cost, if you arent giving content that people want to begin with, you should NOT have to change the prices. You already have micro transactions SO far into this game that it's already unappealing.
Take a look at blizzard. They have NOT changed their prices to World of Warcraft since 2004! It is STILL $15.00 a month! And they lost almost just about HALF of their subscriber count with the release of cataclysm! The only thing they did was introduce wow tokens, and cosmetics for mounts, and character services such as boost, transfers, and appearance changes. All of which is optional, and I would nag about the boost but seeing content is pretty hard to level, its worth it in the end.
WoW has introduced MANY graphical updates and performances WITHOUT the need of raising the price of membership at ALL. RuneScape has done this for the 4th time now. All for what? A mobile app? For content which rarely people like? Oldschool is short 20k members from RS3 which goes to show how much people did not like the new changes, or given up on the lack of changes promised by you. You are ALMOST the same price as World of Warcraft, yet you LACK the quality and customer satisfaction in which blizzard gives. This is wrong, and you need to stop.
