lol look at all these little kids complaining about a price raise. they havent changed the price in a while i would say and they've added so much content, stop complaining you noobs.

They raised the price back in 2015. News post .

It's a $1.50 USD price raise and while that's not a lot, it's surprising that they would bring their costs up when they have such massive potential for returning players with mobile.

It's unsurprising that they would raise the prices in general, however.

Like many others have asked before me, I really want to know why this price increase was necessary. It's not far-fetched to think that all the MTX actually covers a huge proportion of the cost to both maintain & further develop the game, so why up the price for all the potential newcomers?

This update is worrying to me, because instead of offering a low and affordable price (in order to lure in new customers and have them play continuously), you guys now opt to milk newcomers of all their cash and possibly/most likely contributing to the fact that many new players now won't even bother with membership.

I really hope that I am wrong though and I hope the rs3/osrs launch for mobile will both be a huge success and possibly increase the player base of Runescape.

My thoughts exactly.

Grandfather status here myself, might skip another premier club again in protest of this price increase. Just like with your last price increase.

Also please don't promise next year will be even more 'awesome", as that will probably just be taxed back on us again. We're quite happy with the ninja team updates. I cannot imagine that costs as much as a huge epic quest with 1-3 hours of playability.

I purchased the premier gold. I am not sure why it says that. I have already contacted support and they tell me to look at the faq. I even tried talking to the twitter support, it doesn't make a difference.

Well, clearly you didn't.

I'd advise contacting them again, but that window of opportunity may have passed. Could be worth a try though.

With plenty of other gaming platforms releasing all of the games they've ever created for prices such as $2 for 1 person $3 for 2 people a month as well as overall packaging being introduced to consoles, I don't see the payout for paying $131 for a game that continuously introduces content that the vast majority of players don't agree with whilst pushing voted on and promised content to the side. What makes Runescape cost roughly $131 a year when I can get thousands more projected playtime hours of triple A titles for $24 a year? Including that other subscriptions aren't constantly hounding me to buy into MTX while offering more content. In the gaming industry as a whole as it's becoming today, this is a bad move on your part Jagex. There's nothing that makes this a $131 a year game. Some of us that have been playing since we were young have dumped thousands already over the years into your game because we enjoyed it. With the same amount that we've spent on this game I can now get a subscription and play almost every game ever created and to be created for the rest of my existence. Your customer support team in nonexistent, there's a bot that responds to players through email anytime we have account issues. You have a massive disconnect between what the players want and what you think the players want and that disconnect shows with almost every update and you have the audacity to blame your disconnect on the consumer with your social media posts about you acknowledging that you screwed up. We don't want acknowledgement and we certainly don't want your stupidity pushed onto the consumer like your flaws are somehow our fault, we want change. This is a final line for me, it's been a great 15 years I've spent on this game through different accounts, but you're kidding yourself if you believe this is worth $131 a year. I'm taking my 3 monthly subscriptions & 1 VIP sub to better places until there's a change and Jagex decides to open their ears to the community for once. Are you sure you'd like to log out? How about now?

Yessss...so much content in the form of MTX >_>

I have the grandfathered rate, but this is still worrying to me because it shows to me that they do not really care about retaining new potential players. They just want money.
Oh, I almost forgot.
Oh, I already forgot.
