That's correct - As long as you maintain your subscription (with a 14 day grace period), your subscription costs will be locked to it's current rate.
That's a sweet way to sugarcoat it, but you're basically saying "just stay with us forever, with minimal allowance to leave temporarily, and you don't need to worry about it; no biggie". How about explaining properly why you need that extra money in the first place, when you're already making huge profits as shown by the company's financial statements?
Pretty much. I'm a 15 year vet and finally caved to swap to "I'll buy a bond once in a while once enough good content has accumulated" despite losing the grandfathering, but making it cost even
more
will only encourage me to spend even
longer
stretches of time without membership to squeeze the most out of the increasingly overpriced months.
For goodness sake guys you cost almost as much as WoW now, which I am not afraid to say is an overall better game, mainly due to more competently handling its combat system (keeping 90% of mobs dumbed down to where EoC is superfluous is not fun) and not drowning its players in pay to win microtransactions every week.

What about the price of gold premier? Will that also be more expensive for next year? or will it remain the same?
Or will it remain the same if we have active membership at the time?
That hasn't been decided yet, the usual practice is for the relevant teams to create the Premier Club package which includes the pricing in Autumn/Fall.

Yeah, that's what I'd do too if OSRS didn't exist. But sadly, in order to play it, I must pay the same amount of money as I would to play RS3 and it's added in regardless. > /

People are making such a big fuss about membership prices rising when in real life everything is rising in UK almost all the time and people just get on with it..
With price increase, I dont really mind. But please no more crater events like spring fayre/beach/novtumber. If people will be paying more monthly, it would be way more worth it if they receive better events, more in-game content that is actually worth it compared to the now grind fest/RNG based events.

We
NEED
a better explanation than "
we've got great things planned
" if you wan't to keep us invested. Every month you guys churn out updates that come with a price tag for us to buy some new cosmetic piece of worthless pixels. The community has been very vocal about the removal of TH and Solomons store. Now you want us to
PAY MORE
to endure the barrage of desperate attempts to milk our wallets?

"If only your stupid government had their brains in the right place.. The economy in your damned tea land wouldn't have collapsed and we wouldn't see this price increase." Is the first thing coming to mind as I read through the news post. However upon further inspection it seems the message from corporate was very clear.. something along the lines of.. Increase overall profit from grandfathered rate players by making the keys/runecoins more expensive whilst also cashing in on new membership requests from mobile players. Lower British Pound prices comparatively to keep the player base at the same level through difficult times and increase gross profit dollar for investors
Pleased to see people are on the grandfathered rate (or any previous membership rate for that matter) I just think that the price increased isn't justified by sticking to your promises of declining the mxt promotions. All it shows is that it's a great business decision. [ Increase overall profit from grandfathered rate players by making the keys/runecoins more expensive whilst also cashing in on new membership requests from mobile players. Lower British Pound prices comparatively to keep the player base at the same level through difficult times and increase gross profit dollar for investors] was clearly the message here. Sad to see yet another company increase the healthy profit margin by making their customers feel unappreciated hence why I left my first 'anger' response at the top of this post.
I hope that the feedback from everyone in this community can be translated into a clear sheet of feedback that gets delivered to corporate. I'd like to see Mod Phil answer another reddit AMAA session or something where we get to put difficult questions in front of him. I do feel like a response on the ever increasing mxt updates and increasing prices needs to be answered for this to be justified.
Like many others have asked before me, I really want to know why this price increase was necessary. It's not far-fetched to think that all the MTX actually covers a huge proportion of the cost to both maintain & further develop the game, so
why
up the price for all the potential newcomers?
This update is worrying to me, because instead of offering a low and affordable price (in order to lure in new customers and have them play continuously), you guys now opt to milk newcomers of all their cash and possibly/most likely contributing to the fact that many new players now won't even bother with membership.
I really hope that I am wrong though and I hope the rs3/osrs launch for mobile will both be a huge success and possibly increase the player base of Runescape.
lol look at all these little kids complaining about a price raise. they havent changed the price in a while i would say and they've added so much content, stop complaining you noobs.
